Being unapologetically you...

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

So I've just been on another webenar about loving my inner little girl to become a queen of deservability. To improve my self worth, to believe I truly deserve the things I want andto be unapologetically me.

So my question is, are you unapologetically you?

75% of the time yes, sometimes I find myself trying to gain approval from others and straying away from 'being me'

Why on earth would I apologise for being myself. I only apologise if I've done something wrong or upset someone.

Being me generally ends in apologising, so not sure how that pans out against the question.....

I'm apologetically me

But me is who I what to be with who I want to be when I want to be it and thus me is not always me just me if you get me

Probably not for most people most of the time. I'm becoming truer to myself, but life is compromise and to a degree censoring myself.

I'm not sorry for who I am like I used to be, though.

No I'm not.

I'm me, but I carry a lot of guilt about who I am even though I like me for the most part.

I have guilt about needing things or emotions from people.

I have guilt that I can be stressy over stuff.

I have guilt that I don't trust easily and am very sceptical and cynical, looking for ulterior motives in people or their behaviours.

I have guilt that I can't always be the person or think the way other people want or expect me to.

I am apologetically me, unless I'm with those who really know me, understand me. That's when I feel like I'm "home and free"

Yep, I probably should in etiquette apologise some of the time but then I wouldn't be true to me or them as It would be a false apology and that's disrespectful, like me or leave me flows more naturally with my personality

Most of the time. But as you get older for me you realise who and who should know the real you.

The end of the day I am me and if you don’t like it tough luck

I am all me yes. I can be a bit of a crackpot at times, but those who know me, know that is me too and accept it.

Good on you for the tougher stance though. Xx

We are entirely true to ourselves.

Dave makes enemies sometimes due to his opinions, but if people take offence, that's their prerogative.

We get a lot of grief for dressing the way we do, but we'd never notice the people who shout abuse if they'd kept quiet, so it speaks volumes about them.

I share a similar story and am the most content I have ever been now and that includes accepting my faults as part of me, it’s just who I am

I’m far too old to worry about distorting myself to align to another person’s sensibilities. Fortunately I’m diplomatic so it’s not often I upset anyone (although it does happen sometimes).

I've rather got used to being me....

If others have a problem with that then that's for them not for me to deal with

I wouldn’t say I was unapologetically me, I say what I think and rarely hide feelings on any subject but I do apologise for things I’ve said sometimes after a bit of self reflection.

I'd rather be disliked for being me than liked for being something I'm not. I'm not sure if that's the same thing, I'm not sure what being unapologetically me means, it suggests a defiance that I don't really have

Yes I am. If people don't like me that's fine, I don't like everyone that I meet - I'd rather walk away than even consider changing who I am to suit somebody else.
