Best thing you've grown from seed

This is the plant seed variety here, not men's seed - as yummy as it is.

What's the best thing that you've grown from seed?

Mine's a choice between a horse chestnut I planted when I was 11, and is now about 30' tall, and gorgeous in flower or 2 Bird of Paradise plants - they've been in bud since the autumn, but their flowers should soon be open, with all this sun they're getting.

Anything great you've sown?

Sounds interesting - could be one of the beeches, possibly, though they're usually copper, purple or green. Of course, our own perceptions of colour all differ, so someone's burgundy is another's purple red.

No idea, but there is a green leaved version. The burgundy/ red/ purple version is a slower grower and doesn't get as tall. Well mine won't as I keep it cropped.

an apple tree i started in a pot from a seed in an apple i was eating whne i was 5 years old, planted it in my parents garden once it started to grow.

was dug up five years later, and moved from Essex to Leeds, and replanted in my parents new garden,

Parents are both now deceased and house long sold, gut i went past a few days ago and the now 40 year old tree is still there,

Apparently it will not fruit as seeds from apples you eat seldom do,

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

It wasn`t so much the plants but what I put them! My old workmate used to keep pigs as a sideline to his main job and he used to keep a boar (male pig) in a seperate pen. All of the water that used to drain off from the pen was collected and decanted into drums. You would then mix 1 pint of this to 2 gallons of water and feed weekly to the plants. Successfull? How about brussell sprouts 5 feet high!

I used to feed the birds in our garden and at the bottom of the bird table, there was always a lovely crop of wheat until one day, Mrs Red saw mice eating the fallen seeds ...

She hates mice, needless to say that was the end of my bird feeding, wheat growing activities

"a successful business."

oops

in terms of plant, grew a loofa plant and was really impressed. It's a climber and produces loads of great foliage and pretty big yellow flowers before maturing into usuable loofa pods which you dry, de-seed, use and keep the seeds for replanting.

When I was little I always thought they were sea plants of some kind and used to be scared of the seeds in them.
