I would definitely love. I imagine it would be incredibly difficult to recover from seeing your love one die in front of you though. So would it be the same? Im not 100% sure xx |

This subject is dealt with throughout sci fi. First main stream example I recollect is with Star Trek, they have a transporter error and Kirk is split (even his soft focus) to a nice n nasty.
There is also some genuine science/maths that follows the idea, and puts forward principle that the entire universe is recreated every moment.
More on Ops question - if I could not tell and there was no difference, the only issue would be my memory of their death, which would be much easier to deal with than denying the continued existance of someone I love... |

This has been researched to some extent. Mainly with people who have lost memories following a trauma. You can love them but there is no guarantee that you will get that in return. However most people would persist regardless of outcome because you know who they were before they lost the memory.
In this case you know it's just a lookalike so I would say no.

Black Mirror did an episode very similar to that.
I think on some level I would but I'd know they weren't the same. I'm not sure how I would grieve for the person I knew I'd seen die while at the same time having a copy of them there. |

Just watched “upload” on prime and was ace! It’s set in the future where when you die your conscience gets uploaded to a computer system where you can still interact with loved ones. It’s also quirky and funny. But made me think along the lines you mentioned OP  |

I don t think I could because I think I d always be comparing to the original.one can never replace the original it is unique. There s an interesting black mirror episode where a woman loses her husband. Then she gets calls from him on her phone..turns out a company could create an exact clone of him. So she orders it. For a while all is well but over time her brain cant get beyond its a clone but she can t leave him either...so she sticks him in the loft to live out his days and her children take care of him..thought provoking indeed. |
