Anyone one else watched the Netflix series After Life with Ricky Gervais. Don’t mind admitting it made me shed a tear or three my wife said I’m a big softie at heart. |

"I’ve seen it. Reduced me to tears a few times.
You’re not a softy your human "
Just made me think how I would cope if I lost my best friend and soul mate. |

Some hate Ricky, others see some kind of genuine genius with his work.
I think he can get things wrong but has heart behind all of his work. He has no kids in real life, but decides not to kill himself in one episode because he has a dog, I totally get that, however I do have kids so I try to stay alive for them.
After Life to me is wonderful as it show how real middle age men can find themselves totally lost, we don’t often have the emotional support that women of a similar age can have. Especially when grieving for our best friend and lover. So certain scenes resonate with me, the way he films his Wife at the wedding, cake in the face all of it shows their deep love for each other, or as one great film critic consistently tells film makers ‘show not tell’ Something I feel Ricky does really well in this series |

Watched the second series last week in one go...... not a fan of RG but fuck me this has me crying and laughing at the same time.
I’m so glad that it’s been given a third series already |

I (her) absolutely loved both series and am looking forward to the third series.
I cried through happy moments and memories his character shared and I cried because I felt his pain of loss, and the need to keep living.
But I also laughed and smiled an awful lot throughout. The characters are all brilliant, odd and different. With so much dark, sarcastic humour which I love.
I really like Ricky Gervais anyway but this series sky rocketed him in my opinion. Well done indeed x |
