What do you bring to fab forum table? No, not another food post you hungry animals. Do you bring people together? Do you share jokes, wisdom, flirt? What do you think people appreciate about your presence here? Do you always take the same seat with your trusted friends around or try to chat to new people?
This little exchange from another post between GeminiMan and myself will explain it better. He described forum as a melting pot of opinions.. so this followed:
"-Melting pot is a very accurate description. so many ingredients, spices and.. cooks and everyone seems to have a different recipe.
-But that's the joy of cookery books - you can always find the ingredients to make something to your liking - no point in worrying about tastes that are not to your own, even if it was a flavour you may once have liked - just find a different recipe that you like the look of and want to try - or if you find one that works keeping going back for more. "

I don’t know what I bring to the fab table. I’ll have to ponder on that.
I do like reading others comments and getting to know people. There are a lot of lovely people on fab - not just the forums and I enjoy my time on here. I’m not affiliated to any groups just me, doing my thing. Whatever that is |

I'm very much an acquired taste. I try to be the best I can be, but, I think I'm made with coriander. Some people are going to like it, some people are going to wonder who put soap in their dish. I'm also deeply flawed, made by a cook who's still learning. I make a lot of mistakes. But I try, and I keep on trying. And sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. But the cook is still learning and trying to improve, always.
I'm a big dish, hopefully enough for lots of people. |

I don't know what I bring. To some it might be the most delicious dish ever containing light flirting, wit, eloquence. To others it's a sour, rancid dish that makes them eye roll. I'm going to hazard a guess and say that's the case with all forum users.
I think those I like and like me appreciate my presence but that's a really obvious answer. I talk to and interact with posts that interest me, I'm more likely to make jokes with those who understand my sense of humour because language is so subjective and I know people can misread it and add their own bias. I don't know if I bring people together as such, I don't think I do. But I try and post with kindness even more so right now - I don't want to add to another's sad so even those I'm not fond of I try and have a laugh with/interact with them. |

I like this a lot. At the moment I'm standing at the back of the food queue a lot, utensils out of my reach, trying not to react and make things worse. If in doubt, withdraw. |

There and to the left a bit |
Nora will be on my case but I am me, what you see is what you get, take me or leave me
I say things as I see them, I avoid forum politics and bickering as much as I can and leave people to make their own mind up about me - it they like the ingredients I contribute then great - if they don't then there are plenty of other recipes in the book, but I am open to being encouraged to taste them and have my mind changed about them too |

I havent liked coriander at first. I also didn't like olives. I grew to like them. I gave them a chance and exposed myself to a new flavour. More than once. Not everyone is a a chocolate bar but hey.. I cant imagine living just off chocolate whole my life ?

To me you add nice "topsy turvy" humour, very straightforward attitude and many posts which people find relaxing and entertaining from what I recall |

I've got the gene that makes coriander taste like soap. People have tried to convert me so many times. It's genetic. I can't fix it. Please don't put soap in my damn food
Or, some situations are non starters. Or there's incompatibility to work around (yes I do pick coriander leaves out of dishes when I can). Or the cook is a fuck up.
... The cook is often a fuck up, I will say. |

I think I can take a joke quite well without getting offended, and 'get' pretty much most of the humour here, even if it isnt quite my own. I watch/read more than I post now and probably interact with a lot less people than when I was first here, I seem to have lost the enthusiasm to flirt too, but was quite good at it |

I just bring myself and what my mind is thinking at the time is what I write, whether that be serious or fun, but it’s honest with no fluff
Other than that I just draw, keeps me occupied and smiles to those that receive them |

Not too sure what I bring to the table. It all depends on my mood I suppose. Sometimes my responses are a bit sarcastic, tongue in cheek and sometimes just a genuine question.
I do sometimes use the forums to voice an opinion or vent/let out some frustration about what’s going on, on here.
But, I post everywhere and anywhere.

Going on the food theme
I bring a mixture of things to the forum, Im like an Indian curry which contains a pinch of this and a pinch of that, opinions liked by some not by others, too much of something is not always a good thing and tastes change and evolve into different wants, new dishes are also there to be explored.
Words on a screen can be taken in many different ways and you don't really know me until you have met me
I'm in a reflective state of mind |

Absoloutely no idea. We just post on the threads that catch our attention, we will start threads, we try to involve lots of people and welcome newbies and try to avoid the negativity and conflicts that sometimes occur on here.

In a distant past I may have brought more than I do now. But perhaps that was just self delusion. Now I post less interact less trust far less than I ever did, or maybe ever will again.....
If I walked away tomorrow, again, then I doubt anyone would notice

People you are close to would.
People who value your words would.
And now I will most likely notice because that comment has made a bit of a scratch in my mind - 'nobody would notice'. I usually dont notice when people return though. Not good at this spotting who is who business. But I know who is gone if their posts made me wonder or laugh frequently. Anyway, your seat will be reserved! |
