Just not used to that level of pollution, I’m surrounded by beaches and sea air here!

London is fine for a couple of days but more than 48 hours down there and I'm gagging to get back up north. Got loads of family & mates living down there but couldn't do it myself. Too big, too busy, too expensive and I just think Northerners are (in general) a more friendly bunch.
Remember my mate trying to make conversation with strangers on a tube once and everyone just looked at him as though he was mental. |

This happens across wales I’ve had it numerous times...the funniest thing is most don’t realise I’m fluent in welsh. Having had some one do this once and insult me...was most amusing repeating it back to them.
I don’t think this is as bad as it used to be but granted it does still happen |

Lol bit of a sweeping generalisation. Welsh from my understanding, after dating one for two years, are massively misunderstood by the English.....

People switch from Welsh to English all the time in conversations. It’s what we do. I’ve spent 50 years living in a family that swaps between the two all the time. Here it all the time when I’m out an about.
If you look online, there’s loads of English people who’ve moved to Wales saying they’ve lived her many years and never experienced people changing language to exclude. In fact, many say they wish people didn’t feel they had to swap to English when they are around.
I’m not saying it never, ever happens, but someone tells me this happened to them a number of times each year. We all hear this - have there really been thousands of such incidents? Nah.
Sorry, but this boils my p*ss these days!
I love London btw!

North Wales is close to Liverpool and some north wales people actually sound scouse! Tryweryn In north wales was abandoned so they could flood the village to make a reservoir to provide Liverpool with a water supply!

I agree fluent Welsh but some members of my family didn't speak Welsh. So I can pop into one or the other easily. Yes I use English words cause damn it I didn't see a mango til my twenties
And yes I've had someone bitch about me without realising I could understand, but it's happened once in over 40 years. And let's me honest how many of us WhatsApp our mates when your out to say something we maybe shouldn't? |

My mates band played gigs in Wales and they were the best audience. Partied like it was going out of fashion and appreciated the music at the same time. So friendly and no d*unken louts to spoil it. |

I must admit I am a Kent boy. Garden of England and all that. Been to most places around the UK. Football and Rugby you could say puts us into regional tribes etc hating the next tribe.fierce rivarly. With a surname of Evans you csmt get more welsh then that. I love the Welsh choir and their songs.Every area has its good and bad bits and d*unken louts to boot. Now unfortunately I am housed in Essex. Bit of a toilet but again has its good areas. |

When my partner was alive we visited London two of three times a year, he had the underground sussed so it was easy to get around, but that was enough for me, just to many people for me.
As for Wales I love it, I have a little bit of Welsh in me and always enjoyed visiting different places |

Actually - there’s a good argument that Scousers sound like North-East Walians than the other way round. Liverpool wasn’t just built on the influx of Irish, large communities from Wales sprung up there too. |

I love London in small doses. The amount of parking fines that I have had in London is unbelievable!

"exept 10am to 4pm"
Or
"no stopping" and "P" for parking

Take a trot along Grays Inn Road - we disliked London so much we built a welsh centre there. WHile you;re at it nip down to Old Deer Park and ask people there if the welsh don't like London.
Given that oen fo the greatest welsh poets of the twentieth century spent most of his working life living in Golders Green. Of course there's a degree of ambivalence - one of the great welsh poems of the twentieth century is voiced by two miners in Charing Cross Road, looking for work, but the links between Wales and London, and between pre-saxon British history and London, like the ravens at the Tower, deserve a bit more analysis than you're giving them.

There also used to eb arather lovely welsh church in one of the more rundown parts of Manchester, although I think its relocated to Altrincham now... |

Yeah now I come to think of it I've noticed them around Bridgend. I wonder why they're showing the distance for London. I don't think I've see them for other towns. |

You’ll see them on margam road as well. Think it’s cos of margam castle and the lord of Talbot, it was the main route to London. |

They'd be marking the distances for mail coaches going form the Irish ports (Fishguard?) to London via the ferry at Beachley. |
