I quite enjoy a read of a profile to get the vibe from the woman/couple I’m contacting... but I do often see line after line of ‘why don’t people read profiles’ or ‘if you bother to read my profile....’ & ‘ I know you’re not going to read this but...’. So my question is why do people write such long profile bio’s? |

So when people write the standard lazy “Hey how are you, what you looking for we can just copy and paste |

There and to the left a bit |
Because it's their profile and they have chosen to write it that way....is really the only answer to that question.
I enjoy a long profile that gives a flavour of someone more than "Looking to meet x,y,z type for sex" |

Ours is medium long.
Others are short.
Some people have the patience and attention span to read them and others don't.
I'd rather read a long bio than most of it be taken up by the Sydney University nonsense and other 'legal' notices.
Each to their own, but we tend to make a judgement based on how well people articulate themselves and not just what they look like. |

Im not in marketing ...but there is an optimum length and style of words that generally catches people's attention ..and they will digest
I do like reading longer quirky profiles tho
Obviously no matter what you write some people don't seem to read anything .. |

Our profile text is just a little flavour of who we are... if people like what they read and see they can get in touch. If not, no worries. There is no standard or rule. For the most part it is a reflection of the person or couple who writes it, so it will, inevitably, be varied. You’ll either be attracted by it your won’t x |

When I look at a profile several things will stop me from reading it. If I see that BDSM percentage list, if I see that the majority of the text is warnings about prosecuting me if I use their content, if the first sentence says "I know nobody will read this", if the first couple of sentences say things like "why won't anybody give us nice guys a chance and if it's more than about two paragraphs long. That's just me though, people should write what they want at any length they want |

"What is a short profile and what is a long profile? Appreciate if you could elaborate a bit more. How many words is ideal? "
I would say short would be 100 words and a good solid long profile would be about 20-300 words. Sound ok? |

I like reading a lengthy profile especially if a bit of humour is chucked it.
It helps you get a feel of how the person is.
I sometimes use the bio as a decider on whether I want to reply or not. Checking if wants are the same and secondly if they’ll bore me |

I like to have a good read of a profile, it gives me insight to if I actually want to send a message or not - if they have taken the time to articulate what they are looking for or not this helps tailor the message to them specifically.
A little effort goes along way for better words. |

So my question is why do people write such long profile bio’s? "
Like I used to say at the beginning of mine: "This profile is like a penis. I play with it when I'm bored, and it usually gets bigger when I do."
I enjoy doing it. Sometimes in a sexual way. Bits of it are almost like I'm writing porn, and you can bet I'm typing mostly one handed. I tend to edit most of them out when I'm less revved up, though.
I know plenty just think TLDR, but I regularly get compliments on how it's an interesting, honest and descriptive read. So I leave it large for the benefit of the people who like it that way. Those who don't want to read all of it don't have to.
The way I see it, if someone's serious about meeting me, they're going to be spending at least half an hour getting ready and possibly travelling. So 5 minutes reading a profile is neither here nor there.
Within the first few lines, mine tells you that if you message me out of the blue for a go on my fucking machine, you're likely to get blocked. I still had 2 people message me asking exactly that, yesterday. It shows how few people bother to read profile text at all. |

They people are important to many people, so if you aren't 1 of them, move on to someone else. Reading 1 word or all of it is a choice, it's not mandatory and they probably have little or no interest in someone who can't make the effort to get to know them. |

"I quite enjoy a read of a profile to get the vibe from the woman/couple I’m contacting... but I do often see line after line of ‘why don’t people read profiles’ or ‘if you bother to read my profile....’ & ‘ I know you’re not going to read this but...’. So my question is why do people write such long profile bio’s?
Thanks ..... bro
Cool story bro " |

"Mine is quite long.
I think it describes me pretty well.
That's the crux of it.
I don't actually care if people read it or not. "
But you see, yours doesn’t involve moaning about people not reading it. |
