I suffer from this. I know there's no cure, but I find white noise helps when it gets bad. Stress can make it worse, so distracting yourself is no bad thing.

Cheers it's always been there, until a few years ago I got an ear infection that caused my eardrum to burst since then it's just a whole other level, but recently it's constant and started being louder than general noises.

My grandfather suffered bad with this. I heard there is a cure for it now, or something which can ease it?

Dave has had it for many years, but since getting hearing aids last year, it's not been as bad. Apparently they can prevent some forms of tinnitus.

Me too. But from hugging speakers back in the day playing heavy dub etc at festivals.

Meditation helps. Also, loosening all the muscles in neck and shoulders.

Got it in my right ear. Seems to be more prominent when I’m stressed out.

Slowly learning to tune it out. Drove me mad in its early days.

I have it and can live comfortably with it. That was not the case initially though. The less attention I pay to it the less I notice it.

It isn’t a pleasant thing at all so I can relate OP.

Lifes departure lounge NN9 Northamptonshire East not West MidlandsMidlands

Fellow sufferer here.

First had it in my 20s and has been with me ever since and I am 80 now.

It has a tendency to vary the noise level on a day to day basis, have got used to it now and just try to ignore it.

Have this myself too...as above but also been to occupational therapist who said it was all in my mind!! Also tried hearing aids etc to no avail....my biggest trigger is stress but keep on top of that by telly/stereo on etc

Rose Quartz drops from a homeopathist. It can take a couple of weeks to take effect but it works and I've recommended it to a couple of life long sufferers, who've later reported it going entirely.

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

Another sufferer here. Had it about 5 years. Just woke up one day and there it was whistling away. I manage to blank it out, but as soon as I saw the thread title I noticed it - over and above the music I am playing, which isn't exactly quiet!

Hello Jools/Brain.

I heard that there is an app that you can download and somehow it trains you to be able to lower your tinnitus.

Good luck with it if you look for it.

I have tinnitus and went to have my ears checked. They said im FAB except for missing one or two very high pitch sounds. That dispels any theory that I am a dog but I still hear all the wibbly wobbly screechy noises all day long. He gave me pamphlets too to join a tinnitus group....... might help to see if there is one near you or affiliated with your local hospital.

I bought an app for training my hearing.

Was quite expensive as apps go really.

Persevered with it for several weeks and it did nothing for me personally.

Under the Duvet

Awful.

I know mine is worse if I'm stressed, but the fizzing whistling and humming is stressful in itself so it's kind of Catch 22!
