never been sure, they just seem to appear in photos for a while and then not so much.

I think there are fewer ladies ladies wearing hosiery, not just stockings, although I am aware that M&S have stopped selling stockings now - though they do still sell hold ups.
For me my first choice would always be classic Fully Fashioned Stockings. I tend to wear natural, lighter colours if out in the day, but bronze or of course sexy black if out at night.

I've always worn stockings never realised they had gone out of fashion don't really care if they had if I'm honest I wear them because I like them. I wear them for meets and special occasions. |
