"Maybe carrying freight ?
We rarely see planes going over now compared to how many flights there used to be."
Yes. It can be busy. Especially at peak hol times. As I say: it's just the odd one now. |

"What does it make you wonder ?"
Stuff most folks would wonder seeing a passenger plane coming in to land ATM. Where's it flown from? Who's on it? How long have they been away?
As someone's already said, maybe it's not even carrying people. |

"DHL cargo landing at east mids "
Okay. Apart from one I saw later yesterday night they look like passenger planes. Doesn't necessarily mean that they're carrying people though I suppose.
Interesting. They're quite low coming in. |

My son flew home from Vietnam last Wednesday but to Heathrow not East Midlands. There are four flights scheduled to return from India and four from Pakistan and one from Peru that I know of. Possibly others too. |

I'm not sure how long haul East Midlands accommodates? There are large Asian communities in cities nearby: Derby, Leicester, Nottingham, etc. |

"Go onto flightradar24, you will see what they are.
I used to work at the airport.
Any passenger planes will no doubt be carrying stranded brits home"
Okay. May be interesting to know ATM. Thanks. |

Watched a YouTube video yesterday from America where a guy did a low pass fly over over a non passenger airport (ex military) where they were using a runway to store planes, had about 200 there and getting more all the time. These were all the American airline, Delta etc whilst the demand for flights is non existent.
It's both amazing and heartbreaking at the same time. |

Talking about flights on R4 this morning: Heathrow. Think it might be the only one taking passengers now. Or maybe they were just talking long haul?
Anyway: there was guy just flown back from Pakistan talking. Saying there were no restrictions; distancing, etc. at the airport and it was just like arriving back in 'normal' times. Hmmmm |
