I work on an agency at the moment but have just been offered a bank job with more money. Both jobs are as and when so what I need to know is do I change it so that the bank job is my main job or leave it as the agency job.

difficult choice in your scenario... it should be the one that pays you the most money in the tax year

The higher of the two or set up on your own and contract yourself out to them both.

You don't say if either/both/none of the jobs is as a PAYE employee or as a self-employed contractor?

As a contractor you take care of your own tax/N.I. contributions and there may be some things for which you can claim against your tax (work expenses etc).

Ultimately it won't matter as HMRC ought to provide a calculation at the end of the year collating all your income. PM me if you want to know more, as I work in this area.

southampton

your highest paid job will be classed as the main job, as thats where you get you tax relief, the second job will be taxed at the full basic rate of 23 percent, if that rate is right.

Don't you come the all innocent with me!! You're about as innocent as a puppy sitting next to a huge pile of poo with a hang-dog expression on it's face that says, "It wasn't me!"
