Depends.
Are we talking the original trilogy (Star Wars) or the newer stuff? Or Jar Jar Friggin Binks?
Or the original Star Trek, the original movies or the new ones?
Details matter.........

Michio Kaku places Star Trek as a Type 2 Civilization, and Star Wars as Type 3.
But I think there is a bit of debate which would be classed as more advanced. |

The original star trek is sci fi gold and tbf very funny, star wars 4-5-6 are great films but didn't like the prequels or the new films very much!
Tricky question this one Over all we are going with Star Trek

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest |
Star wars before the Disney take over
Star wars with Disney? I'll get my sick bucket.
Star trek up to Voyager?
Star Trek Netflix / Picard? I'll get my sick bucket.
Veritable tie between the two when they were actually good. Wouldn't waste a second with either of them as they are now. |

"Star Wars out of the choices. But my favourite universe is Warhammer 40,000.
For the emperor
I'm Eldar
Dark angels here!
It makes Star Wars and Star Trek look like the Clangers doesn't it "
Especially when you get into the lore of it all. I love it! |

There are too many variables.
Are we only considering the original trilogy and series?
Are we looking at the whole universe for each including spin offs?
Both franchises have scored massive own goals over the years.
If we are looking at the original series against 4,5 and 6 then Star Wars, but only just.
If we are looking at both of the universes as a whole then I'm not bothered and say
Firefly.

"S T A R W A R S
Let the battle begin "
They are just not comparable
Might as well say compare chocolate cake with Sunday dinner
Now original vs new gen in both categories that's a different question
Starwars always old gen
Star trek there are too many new gen all of the old gems were classic yet some of the new gen compares well

Star Trek! Original three Star Wars, yep, I’d concede they rocked- not really into the others. My lil one is a Star Wars nut though! She owns so much Star Wars stuff! Paid for her to go to the States with my parents as part of her birthday prezzie- to go to Disney for Star Wars, haha x
Result is I’m into Trek but have to watch the Wars, haha x Viv x

Ahhh!! Now I have something else tipping me towards Star Wars!! Star Trek has Piccard though!!
Ok, if I take the lust element of Patrick Stewart aside, I’ll concede...if my lil ones loves it, and I admit Stormtroopers can be awesome, I have to change my decision...
Star Wars!! xx
(Off topic but my mate did an awesome Boba Fett routine in burlesque, to Barbie Girl, was awesome- he even had one of us come on as Darth at the end- so funny! Never seen a Trek one) x |

Will the Star Wars power of persuasion never end!! My lil one just had the B.A.B Chewbacca, as she loves him, so I admit it, Star Wars! It has everything- especially Wookie’s and Stormtroopers!! I’ll also admit to being a nerd and misquoting it at times “this is not the sub you’re looking for” haha xx |

Oh god. How can I choose? I love them both for very different reasons. It also depends which elements I'm comparing. Both franchises are too big to take as one holistic entity...
If it's Next Generation vs Phantom Menace, Star Trek obviously wins. But then if we're talking Enterprise vs Empire Strikes Back, clearly Star Wars comes out on top.
Star Wars elicits a childlike joy in me that I'll never shake off. Whereas Star Trek is a much gentler enjoyment; elegant and restrained. I can binge watch Star Trek TNG for hours, but then I can't hear the opening music to Star Wars without leaping around and singing along.
Can I just pick Babylon 5 and be done with it? |

Empire. Can't beat Empire. Beautiful imagery, the only one with decent direction, the apparent 'death'(and so poignant) of one of the main characters, and a crackling screenplay co written by Leigh Brackett, who also did the Big Sleep with Bogart and Bacall:
Flirting using horse racing as a proxy :
Bacall: I like to see them work out a little. See which ones are the front runners or come from behind. Find out what their whole card is;what makes them run.
Bogie: find out what mine is?
I think you like to get out in front, open up a lead, take a breather in the back stretch and come home free.
You don't like to bee rated yourself?
I haven't met anyone yet who could ddo it. Any suggestions?
I can't tell. I'd need to see you over a distance of ground. You've got a touch of class, but I don't know how far you can go?
A lot depends on who's in the saddle.
Ah. 1946 was a good year..

Having grown up with both from their origins, I'm going to have to go with Star Wars. Better characters, way cooler toys and there were times that I could have hit Captain James T. Kirk in the face with a shovel. |

Star Trek without a doubt but is the best but before discovery came along an fucked it all up. Trek is something we can achieve and star wars is just space fantasy, only good things to come out of wars is mandalorian, kotor and empire strikes back. |

Also actually prefer the expanse.
It's actually a hell of a lot more believable and possible than pretty much all sci-fi series.
I have always loved star wars and star trek for different reasons.
But always found the patronising message and the do gooder approach of stat trek a bit sickly.
And I think the disneyfacation of star wars started with jarjar binks long before the Disney buyout. |

Agree with others above!
Which Star Trek? Which Star Wars?
I prefer Deep Space Nine personally! The "Sisko" as a Captain of D.S.9 and the emissary to the Bajoran peeps. Never get bored watching it. Great production, good characters, good continuity. Watch it every day on Syfy!!!
However, Star Trek Discovery on Netflix is amazing too! A good up to date twist on the franchise.
The old Star Wars, Empire Strikes back etc. is amazing too! Rogue One ok ish
Was a bit worried that the Disney franchise swallowing it up would ruin it...... But will have to wait and see as regards that. They are advertising a new one on Disney?
Suppose I'm saying both are good as I'm a Sci-Fi fan and will always be. Love the genre of films & books! |

The original Star Wars trilogy, loved it, grew up with it and that can't be beaten.
I enjoyed Star Trek as well.
I really enjoyed Star Trek The Next Generation and The Mandolorian was a good series.
Didn't like the newer Star Wars films however.
Heads back to the sci fi geek corner on impulse power..

Star Wars has made more money and four of the films are really good; but in every other way, Star Trek is superior.
It has far more available content, far better writing and greater depth and complexity.
Roddenberry created Star Trek to examine moral dilemmas. Lucas created Star Wars to entertain children. They both succeeded.
It's not just me that thinks this way. You ask Gandalf, Harry, Starbuck, Teal'c, Ivanova, Davros, Bortus and Leela.
Mind you, Darth Vader does find my lack of faith disturbing. |

I’m definitely more of a Star Wars fan.
To me this question is kind of dead on delivery. It’s a debate that always gets raised but at the end It’s like comparing apples and oranges, both are fruit but outside that completely different.
One is primarily a fantasy series with Sci-fi trappings and a movie franchise, while the other is pretty much straight forward Sci-fi and mostly TV based. Though obviously this isn’t 100% the case.
Kind of like comparing The pulp fantasy of Conan the Barbarian to high fantasy Lord of the Rings.
But either way Star Wars has better ship designs, better creature designs, and Darth Vader. |
