It was a lorry that hit something and caught fire, hence they stopped all traffic until sorted. There will be traffic if they can't move |

Traffic England is reporting 7.30/45pm.

Trust me, after sitting in a jam on that point of the M6 for six and a half hours, that isn't bad !
So serious question , what point was it you are trying to make? |

Yea we did 5 hours where someone had landed on the carriagway from a viaduct in Stockport.
We had just passed the only off ramp and had to wait for recovery vehicles coroner and a water truck to wash down the road !!!
Felt sick for weeks after. |

Having been working in the Manchester sorting centre (Royal Mail) for the past 4 months and vicariously exposed to other mail-order organisations, I can safely say the road logistics system is now more populated with detritus from online mail ordering than any hint of essential goods for hospitals and healthcare. Given the madness which is typified by the ridiculous levels of eshopping we now have to deal with, the best thing for hospitals will be for the M6 to stay shut so that the consumer virus is held up and leave the other road networks available to support the fight against the biological virus. Sadly this is highly unlikely to happen as consumerism will trump human suffering and death every time. Btw the pun was intended....... |

Yea, also blocked motorways also means that people getting tested may miss COVID testing station openings too. |

A somewhat oblique repost to the broader message of stop buying dross to free up the entire road and logistics network |
