Nooooooooo, there’s kettles that only take the water to a certain temp, that’s better to make tea and coffee with. I would have thought someone of your sophistication would have known about these

I don’t drink tea or coffee I literally only have a kettle so we can make gravy, hot chocolate, or fill a hot water bottle

Erm

So there are variable water heaters that take the water not to boiling perfect for coffee however tea requires boiling to extract

The variable temperature ones should go from 80 deg to boiling

If not it's broken

My coffee machine I set the temp for my perfect espresso

And it gives me boiling water for tea

Currently I dont own a kettle

No kettles? Sorry I didn’t mean to bring up some previous bad kettle memories

Hey OP. We have several of these kettles at work for the tea drinkers. I quite like them as they change colour when they’re being used and look kind of pretty. Hate tea though

Brilliant, a lady with first hand experience that’s not even listed on your profile. A hidden gem in this otherwise (at least currently) boring world

But did it taste better? I like green tea but I’m told it tastes much better with slightly cooler water

85° for coffee, and hotter for tea, as over 85° will scald the coffee

Ohhh i didn't know ... I use the kettle for making tea or stock

My coffee machine provides coffee... I don't think I can change the temp... I do pre-warm my cup tho

Always good to pre-warm generally

Yes. Different tea requires different temperatures and burnt coffee has a special place in hell.

Black tea should use boiling water, most others, heated.

For tea and instant coffee 100 is fine for fresh coffee 95, I use a Sage coffee machine that does it but I’ve had a kettle with the temp setting in the past
