I've long argued against play-offs. West Ham finshed 11 points above Blackpool so it would have been harsh for Blackpool to gain promotion when league placings are based upon 46 games over a season. I know there is a huge financial incentive to those playing in play-offs and a visit to Wembley for players who may never get a chance to ever play there but I still think it's unfair for a team to get promotion above a team who have played much better during the season. |

Mind you i can't say too much. I went to the Full Members Cup Final in 86 where we smashed the mighty Man City 5-4. The competition was that highly regarded that The Football League made us play a league game on the Saturday and play the final on Sunday. Bates and Swales underwrote the cost of a Wembley final.

Being a west ham fan I agree..Why should the whole season come down to one game when anything could happen,specially when the hammers missed out on promotion by only a couple of points...I don't feel sorry for Blackpool we deserved to go up purely on the fact we were the 3rd best team.

It does tend to bring out the teams that can beat good teams at the end of the season rather than those who peaked earlier by beating the weaker sides, Personally I wanted Blackpool up, but nothing has gone my way football wise this year |
