Yes, because my mum always did!
Sometimes they are better cold, sometimes they need to be room temp. It depends what you are doing with them.
It's quicker for them to warm up, than cool down is my logic to keep them in the fridge. |

"They're not in my house long enough to be in the fridge 4-6 eggs every day
Crikey, I have to take tablets to keep ma cholesterol level in check "
Dietary cholesterol intake has virtually no effect on blood cholesterol levels, for the very large majority. |

Ma next door neighbour used to keep his on my garden when I lived out in the sticks and you couldn't put a fork in the ground without being surrounded by them |

"Just to clarify things, I don't put mine in the fridge and they are usually perfectly fine even 3 weeks past their best before date "
Nope, I leave mine on the side & they are often OK a few weeks after best before date. Always test them first in a bowl of water. Sinks & stays at the bottom, all is good. Stands upright touching the bottom, OK but get it used fast & cook it well; Floats = Fucked. That how I remember it, F is F. Bin job. |

What are the poll results Ace?
Apparently 'egg industry' recommends keeping them in the fridge.. middle shelf to the back. They don't cope well with being kept in the door. And changes of temperature;-) The things I google because of the forum.. |

Eggs keep for longer beyond the best before date when kept in the fridge.
Eggs don't come with a use by date.
Use by date - should be used before then and not used afterwards
Best before date - produce with taste better before this date, can be used after this date....use senses (smell, squishy, mold)
Display before - only for supermarkets & shops, means they have to sell it before this date or bin it (most is now diverted to food banks to reduce waste, just shows we were making too much in the first place).
If you've cut up too much veg or fruit (apples, peach, pears), you can put it in a bowl of water, put in the fridge & it'll keep for 2 days. |
