My mental health is a mess and I don’t know what to do. Any mental health sufferers struggling with the social aspect (lack of it)?

Any tips, tricks, quotes or anything else welcome please.

No: I do run often so anything other than exercise would be more useful. X

Gotta find things to do bud.

It’s the only real advice I can offer.

We all have bad days, I just try and keep my routine.

Replace the things you can’t do with something else no matter how trivial it is.

Maybe try volunteering for something to keep you busy if you’re healthy otherwise and aren’t in the at risk categories.

Good luck

Sorry to hear that, have you thought about mindfulness? Listening to it, or talking to someone close to you about how you feel? Reaching out would be a good step xx

I can’t do the volunteering and I think not meeting at work is taking its toll. I miss seeing people everyday and talking about nothing or everything. I’ll try and see if there are any online support groups or something or finding something new to try.

Thank you, man. I appreciate the comment

I’ve not tried it? I will look into it.

I am fortunate to live with my gf so I’ve spoken to her but it’s strange, I am conscious of bringing her down and there’s no pub to go to and think and talk to strangers and I’ve not been to therapy for a while so there’s not that either.

It is what it is I guess. I just wondered if anyone else was struggling and had managed to get through it.

I’ll check out the mindfulness, thank you.

Will your therapist off a telephone consultation as many are during this social distancing. But also as was said before. Mindfulness is great. Download insight timer app. Loads of guided meditation on there to help you relax

I've been keeping busy in the garden. Being outside and a bit of exercise helps. Our road is planning a social chit chat, sat on chairs on our front lawns. Will be good to talk to people again. Maybe you could organise something similar where you live OP.

If you miss interacting with people try and arrange group video calls with your friends.. family if that possible. Make it into a party or games. Whatever floats your boat.

Hope you find ways to cope.

It's strange times. But could be good opportunity to replace old habits with new ones. Lucky you to be with your girlfriend. Make a list of things you could do together at home and never had a chance before due to busy life!

Stay busy..have some noise to kill out the silence..music is the best..maybe cam or if like me you don't cam, Skype etc, chat on here..or set up a Skype type thing so that you can. Make sure you take some outside time to feel fresh air. Hope you find something.

I miss social interaction so have a few little WhatsApp groups where we keep an eye on each other and send daft jokes and memes to each other too.

I'm still working so that keeps me busy.

You say you can't volunteer but even just helping out a neighbour can be fulfilling.

Good luck

Just here to reiterate everything that has already been said here by wiser humans, to give you a bro-bump and to say your username is badass, OP.

Thank you everyone. I appreciate you all. Been self isolating for almost four weeks now and I think I’m just in my own head a lot.

I’m going to try and find out about all of the suggested things and hopefully it’ll me feeling better. And if anything works I’ll pop it on here and anyone that’s feeling rough can give them a go!

I’ve called a few friends during this but I fell out with most of mine just before lockdown so perhaps building bridges may be the way?

I try and exercise everyday but today I think I’ll go on a bit of a hike to find myself.

Take care of yourselves, guys and gals
