When I go through traumatic event in my life I tend to change my hair as a way to signal change and moving on, the new me.

When was the last time you had a drastic haircut and why?

I'm thinking the next one will be a pixie cut and white. What do ya reckon?

I think this is probably a thread for the ladies but I’m going to join in if I may?

Last week I dyed my hair blonde lmao and that was because I have always been too scared to and there’s no better time than now. But also I was having a rough time.

And before that at uni I decided to grow my hair and grew it for about three years because I was sick of caring so much about what others think and I was also trying to make some kind of weird statement with it

When I had my daughter, I had my chin length inverse bob cut into a really short pixie style cut (you can see in some of our pics). I wanted a sty that needed less daily faffing.

Every year for festival season I dye my hair bright colours- pink, blue, turquoise, purple and green so far and some mixtures as well. For me it symbolises stepping out of the formal and corporate atmosphere at work and embracing my hedonist side

White pixie cut sounds fantastic! Go for it

If the back and sides of mine get much longer they will start to curl. Used to be my frustration when I was a young rocker as I could not get any length without massive waves. No perm required.

Definitely not just one for the ladies! Sorry you’re having a rough time. How’s the new style? Pleased with it?

I often dye my hair anyway (struggling to get my usual dye atm so it looks horrendous)

If I got through a stressful time I get a tattoo.

I left my ex, moved out and quit my job on my 30th birthday so had a unicorn tattoo

Tattoo is a good point. I've been through some big changes and as a consequence am contemplating tattoos. Saving up and thinking logistics, design, etc.

In Nov_mber 2016 I finally decided I was fed up of dying my hair. So on Nov_mber 5th I walked into the cutting bar and asked them to cut my medium length hair into a pixie cut to basically get rid of the dye. It’s been 4 years now and I have no regrets. I have let it grow and learned to love the hair colour I have and embrace it. Just took 15 plus years

I had over 10 inches chopped off last year for my birthday. I’d been growing it for our wedding & was struggling with it after a hysterectomy. I donated it to Little Princesses for wigs

I had very short naturally hair all my life. In my mid 50s it began to go grey so I grew it long and gradually became blonde. Do you reckon it was a mid-life crisis?

I'm still unsure. It's chilly on my head. I don't think I'll keep it but I'm pleased I did it. But it does feel really nice.

I like it! It’s very blonde but there’s no harm in trying new things I guess

I put what I thought was a dark brown colour on mine last week but is more reddish, especially in sunlight

Will probably leave it a few weeks the either go darker or maybe put my blonde bits back in.

The child was fuming I'd not done hers at the same time.

She's 10 going on 27.

My last drastic change was reaching 40.

I finally gave into temptation and got it bleached and coloured pillar box red.

It has been various colours since.

Prior to that the last really drastic change was after my marriage broke down in my early 20s. I went from long hair to very short as a statement of a new start.

I've had loads of styles and shades over the years though.

Not a hair cut but a hair colour change. At the time I split up with ex BF I had red hair. For long 8 years. I decided to go back to my natural blonde colour and stayed with it since.

I’m always changing my hair style in the last few years I’ve had a mod haircut, shoulder length hair, top knot and then my current style which I think will go to shaved head at some point during the current situation

Me too but I'm worried that my rubbing might be the start of a habit.

Peach you would look awesome with a pixie cut.

Years ago I shaved my head - because I'm tall and fat everyone assumed I was strictly fanny

My hair now is ridiculous its long and part grey and a massive afro - I hate it!

Biggest change was about 15 years ago, decided to have a number 2 all over. Was surprised at the reaction to start with, everyone thought I was nuts.

Was nice and cool in the summer but a bit chilly in the winter! Kept it for about 12 months then went back to normal.

Left unchecked, my hair goes wild. Plus I used to have to wear a lot of headgear so I kept it short and stuck with it. It's just easy maintenance..
