If two of you hadn't suggested gimp on fab I'd have assumed it was a wind up and the next step was to suggest I needed to wear a mask for it to work !

You guys are awesome is it quite idiot proof ?

Gimp is bit of a heavyweight for basic photo editing. Have a look at an online photo editor called pixlr

That's why I gave the full name ha

Depends what you are doing with it ha

I haven't downloaded it for a long time so not sure about card but doubt it as they do it by license key which the current one will expire in 7 days.

If it's a one off project you can always use an online version of a photo editor

Google photoshop online and you'll get a selection of sites to use

Hefty Hideaway

Photoshop is only an app these days as I found out to my dismay when I couldn't get it on Chromebook for the kid.

She used Affinity in the end but no idea how easy it is to use.

You can still buy older versions of photoshop.

Ebay is awash with them.

Essentially all you need is the serial code for photoshop cs5 and it will run for you as software rather than an app. This was for people who purchased it before it went pay monthly.

In all honesty I have used a wealth of photo editing and design programmes and none come close to photoshop. But if you don't have much experience they are a mine field to use as they are designed for the seasoned pro. I would just download the ones recommended and see if they do the job. Or as has been suggested, get photoshop for a week, design your poster then don't renew. The good thing about photoshop is that there are a wealth of guides on youtube etc to follow

Good luck!

Yep, you've had some good advice above! However, GIMP does make most people laugh..... I have had Photoshop before but I prefer GIMP cos it's quite costly and I refuse to pay for something when you can get something as good as GIMP. It's free and open source.

If you don't know how to do something then YouTube becomes your best teacher - in fact it's just as good as! You can get it from this site it's trust worthy try:-https://ninite.com/

I have had no problems! Other packages you could use is "IrfanView". I have downloaded some good added effects filters from it's own website!

"Krita" is another but it does not have as many effects and is more geared up to Manga enthusiasts & for drawing tablets...

Hope this helps...

Ok, I have used a number of apps for photo editing over the years. I dislike paying over the odds for them and have settled on the following, all of them are free

For pretty foolproof simple editing, use the built in editor in Microsoft Photos.

For really detailed stuff I use GIMP - latest version is really good and gives Photoshoplike results. For something like Adobe Lightroom, try Raw Therapee (no, this isn’t a windup) it has some pretty cool functions. It lacks some of the detail stuff you get in GIMP like airbrushing but is really quick otherwise. If you want more help or images sorted, drop me a line
