Just seen krakatoa..huge volcano has erupted again in the Polynesian area of the world..last time she erupted she affected the whole planer. .our Thames River was raised by nearly a foot and the planet experienced odd weather as the atmosphere was full of ash. A sea captain described a wall of water over 40ft hitting them, he buttoned down the hatches and the shipublic kind ofrom survived except when he came on deck he found their ship to be resting miles inland on the side of a mountain..unbelievable!! |

Not huge amount of time ago then? Seems it but it's not really.
There's a volcano/mountain in Tenerife I think, if that collapsed it would sent a Tsunami to the UK and East Coast of the USA.
I said Tenerife but it could be one of the other islands |

"When it erupted it in 1883 it triggered a period of global cooling. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing if it happened again. "
Knew I was a few years out..bugger..been a while since I studied it. Going to have a look at last night's eruption, see if there's any more footage. |

Although Mount Teide on Tenerife could still go off, It's dormant, not dead. The island that most are worried about is La Palma.
The island is slowly splitting in two and when it does then it will be a very serious event for most of the north Atlantic.
It could happen tomorrow or it could be a few thousand years away, but happen it will. |

Her 1880s explosion killed 36000 people, in 2018 she created a tsunami killing 400..a dive team dived the seabed around Krakatoa a few years back and found her to be a small blowholes of a once larger unrecorded blowout..they mapped a vast crater..interestingly Iceland have detected a spike in vorganic activity in last few days..there were two other eruptions simultaneous to this recent one in the same area...but then this is quite common in Polynesia. |

The current eruption at Krakatoa is a magma eruption. Unless things change theres no danger of the tsunami from 2018's eruption when a large part of the volcano collapsed into the sea.
Around the world there are always active volcanoes. Italy has 3 pretty active volcanoes 2 are actively spewing lava and Vesuvius is always smoking a bit.
Volcanic eruptions are a normal and frequent event. |

It is.
I have been fascinated by the huge Krakatoa eruption and its global impact, ever since I found out about it as a child. |
