Do you save your calories in the bank to use at weekends?

I do that, so what I like to do is to eat under abit of my daily calories which then leaves me for a bigger surplus to eat friday and saturday, it could be an extra 1000kcal so about 500 extra I could eat on those 2 days.

Your weight loss or gain is determined by your weekly calories, here is how it works, lets say your target is 2600kcal daily that gives you a weekly total of 18200 as you times your daily calories by 7, what approach do you use yo combat the weekend eating?

I normally work my arse off in gym during week so I can indulge a little at the weekend.

I dont count calaries. I just watch what I eat. Or try to!!! Food is my downfall.

surrounded by twinkly lights

Daily I have a big breakfast, normal lunch, small dinner so I have the calories to burn when I need them.

We both exercise six times a week ( home gym) running etc , only watch our intake volume & food products but don’t count calories, we might treat ourselves every now and again . Last night we had an apple crumble with custard whoop whoop . The older one gets the harder it is to maintain fitness level ,body shape & recovery of training injuries . Alcohol is non existent in this household ( works for us )

Food is for enjoying. I cant live without something nice to look forward to.

Tbh, at the moment I don’t count anything, especially not calories. I’m eating whatever I can find and when it’s something covered in chocolate even better. xx

I do something similar, if I’m planning a night involving a larger meal or alcohol I’ll fast a meal in the day or skip breakfast next day. Also try to get an extra mile in, it allows you enjoy the night if you are balancing it out and stops the guilty feeling

Actually to be fair I do something similar when I'm being strict

So yes I eat forward using 100 cal per hr as a thumb rule

Thus a 1000 cal splurge would mean I'd wait 11 hrs till next feed x

Banking calories? Dear god no, if that were the case I’m well into my overdraft and can probably expect a bailiff knocking on the door to get some back!

I don't count calories but I am careful with carbs and only eat things like cake at the weekend, unless I'm on holiday or a guest at someone's home and they have obviously gone to some effort to get cake or biscuits for me. I also can't resist salted caramel and chocolate hot cross buns

Hmm I assume there are certain drugs to which you dont apply that flippant attitude ?

Also enjoy ? I really really really enjoy climbing and mountain biking

Not enjoying a couple of short lived sugar hits to keep my weight at x permits me 100s of hours having obceince dopamine hits on the trail and crag . Each extra kg of fat I would carry would diminish these activities which I can assure you are so bad for you they are potentially deadly

I prefer to play the long game not short term drug style hits

Each to their own but I felt you were sniping judgmentelly

Agreed it was a flippant comment but not without backing.

I’m a triathlete and endurance athlete with 5 Ironmans, 10 x 70.3, Team GB European championships and Ironman world championships under my belt. Plus ex. Scotland U21 international rugby.

I have always gone by eating, drinking what I want when I want (never done drugs) and it has always kept me in good stead

To take your goals to the next level you have to be super strict, you have to have the mind set like is this extra bread worth the extra 100 calories so then you bank it as an extra 100 calories for the weekend to have.

No. I’ve never counted calories, I just eat what I want and everything in moderation. Probably helps I don’t enjoy most of the usual high fat foods, so rare they enter my diet

I'm being good Shag, I've been stinking to around 1000 to 1200 calories since just before quarantine. I haven't had chocolate for nearly 2 weeks and I feel so much better for it

I don’t count calories but I’ve got a super high metabolism and live an active and healthy lifestyle which includes a physically demanding job. I cook and eat fresh daily when I’m at home and if I fancy cake or desserts etc they have no ill effect on my weight or general well being. Also when I’m not in lockdown I usually go to the gym 3 times a week and make sure I run 10km a week too. It’s all a balance that works for me.

Granted. All depends what you want. I’ve competed for my country and raced world championships. Next level would be professional level and the likes of Alistair Brownlee have a bit more spare time than me

That is right. I start the day with 100g oats and I put some honey and cinnamon in it, it is very tasty

I don't count calories as I've never found that it's much benefit working it out to the dot. 100 here or there isn't going to do much.

But I suppose all my diet and training is sport and competition based rather than for aesthetic reasons. I'm im training and competing a lot and it's in season then I'll adjust my diet accordingly for performance and recovery reasons, same as for when I know I'm not training a lot in winter, I may make a mental note to trim meals down...... But I even that out with ice cream
