I think something has died somewhere downstairs and I cant find it....the stench comes and goes throughout the day and changes room?? and I cant find the source...im thinking it may be under the floorboards as I have oringal wood which equals lots of gaps.....any ingenious tips on how to locate it???

ew, don't envy you right now

Don't have any answers really other than watch out for flies hanging around in a particular area? rotting flesh is nice to them may help to rack down where it is.

Good luck

got any pipes leaking?

brown type circles on the ceilings which look like a stain?

is there any chance of wind blowing back some horrid smell from a outside waste pipe?.

dont start ripping the boards up until your sure andd have checked around.

i got a cat and he dropped a half eating mouse behind the back of a radiator and the smell was going on for a while.

it was only when i bleed the air from the radiators that i noticed it and most of it was being eating by bugs.

so check everything.

not down with the lingo...whats 'rack'???

At first i thought it was my drains as I thought the smell was sewage, but have treated drain with super strong One Shot...but no joy....

I do have brown circles, but that is upstairs because of a broken gutter???

We had a mouse problem a couple of years back so I poisoned the little fuckers, but they died in their nest which I couldnt find, but I could smell them.

Anyway, I was doing some plumbing under the bathroom floor and found a nest with mummified mice in.

The smell will go after a few days

Quite spooky to read this thread as we have just moved into a (rented) house on Saturday. Monday morning I found a large half gnawed potato in the middle room. Now unless we have Mighty Mouse in da house, I think "There's a rat in ma kitchen, what am I gonna do?"

Have phoned the landlord & he will sort it and compensate us for the potato.

Can you describe the smell? - I may have a few ideas as to what it could be. Is it an ammonia type smell?

no the guy is from London, West was from up here in GLOC,

Talking of which, when we first started swinging we went to a club, and were new and a bit scared. a guy tries to chat up my wife, and even though he knows we are new to the scene he starts getting intense and wanting to talk about Fred West and what he got up to, I mean that really isnt where you want to be going in conversation what a muppet.

Oh and a suggestion, you can get, high frequency devices that scare of rodents, much cheaper that pulling up floor boards and more effective than poison or traps
