Good places for an initial meeting?

Can anyone recommend a good place for an initial social meeting? I'm in London on Tuesday evening and will hopefully be meeting someone, so I'm looking for somewhere two people can have a drink and a discreet conversation about things that aren't for public consumption

. Any suggestions, ideally in the vicinity of Russell Square?

Literally any pub, coffee shop or park? Nobody is eavesdropping, Londoners are too self absorbed to care what others are getting up to
