I salute you.

Looking to expand my rock musical taste past the usual suspects. I want to hear all your obscure or undervalued bands and artists.

I’ll start with saying Jimmy Page’s solo stuff. Emerald Eyes has to be one of my top 10 songs of all time.

Who are your usual suspects and how heavy are you going?

I’m happy anywhere from like the Yardbyrds, Beach Boys, and bands of that lightness all the way through to Marduk and Behemoth and heavier.

With Rock I have no limits. Except maybe that squealing pig band I keep seeing on Instagram with the hazmat suits and pig masks

For me the stock list of rock/heavy bands are AC/DC, Sabbath, deep purple, Dio/Rainbow - those kind of bands. Newer/heavier is Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Slayer, Sepultura, Machine Head etc.

Recently, I got in to Jinjer after seeing them at Download last year. Her vocal range is nuts! Not suited so heavy but Ive also been listening to Clutch a lot

Into a lot of metal in my younger days, mixed with punk, goth, Alt stuff.

Now I like stuff a bit more chilled and sexy like the black keys, Deftones and QOTSA. Korn and slipknot will always have a place in my heart though.

I believe we had this conversation at OP4F. Was a great convo in between being overwhelmed by my first time in a club

I’m getting more into chilled metal/rock like Deep Purple (think Child in time) and Pink Floyd. But I truly want to hear the unknown bands.

Another group I’ve started listening to is an American Jam band called Goose.

One thing I usually do is go to an artist I like on Spotify - then select "Go to artist radio" - which gives you an automatically generated playlist of similar artists.
