Although you can learn photography by experimenting, I really advise even just 1 session with a pro photographer and model. Cover basics like correct exposure, composition and how to use camera controls, with a model there that you'll get some awesome photos from. Trust me in that you'll get more from an hour or two there than days worth of online videos, plus awesome images to start your portfolio with
