This may not sound like much to some but for me on a warm / hot day a walk round Alexandra Palace park in North London with a nice picnic and then maybe the boating area with the pedalo and a ice cream can be a nice day out.

Embankment/Waterloo on Sundays ... Hyde and Regents parks ... outdoor theatre Regents Park too ..

We also like the Museum of London (mainly for the medieval exhibits)
