Short story from a Nurse..

This how I left work this morning, after sobbing today during staff handover. And I feel it reflects the sad reality of how NHS staff are feeling everyday at the moment.

Tonight on my shift I’ve had to tell the family of a dying man, that they cannot go in to see him, they cannot say goodbye to their dad and that they have to go home. Think about that for a minute, how it must feel to tell a family that.

This is after finding out one of my patients had died yesterday days after testing positive for the corona virus. I know this is happening all over but the patient group I look after, I really feel like they don’t deserve this. Battling cancer with every fibre of their being, having chemo, radiotherapy and everything that comes with that and then to die alone, unable to have visitors and say goodbye to their loved ones. Wards unable to support their family the way we want too because family can’t visit. How can this be happening, how is this fair? How an earth will families get closure? Can you imagine your parent dying alone and not being allowed see them?

Don’t the public want to do their bit to stop this from happening? Why is it so hard to just stay inside. And the truth is I’m filled with dread, because I know this is only going to get worse.

It's so sad ...I'm working on the frontline in healthcare and we thank God haven't it yet . The only thing us Irish are good at is listening so we are staying at home when not at work . Stay safe all

This is so sad and so true. Just stay at home. There is no need for anyone who doesn't need to go to work or get essentials to be out. If you are just because you are bored you are the reason this thing is spreading and you are the reason people are dying. It's that simple. Just stay at home.

Anyone who thinks it's OK to be out is effectively a murderer!

Health care professionals and their support staff are very special people, who's work goes largely unheralded until something like this happens.
