A little worrying to hear Varadkar say we are following the South Korea model.A country that has had to deal with MERS and SARS. A country vastly more experienced in these kind of circumstances.A country that has relentlessly tested and contact traced from day one. A country that had an 24/7 emergency screening response unit for all travellers. How can he say we are following their model when we are still letting flights in. Ferries in. People in. And still not even screening them. When we have hse workers already worried about lack off ppe. When we have 40,000 people waiting to get tested. I know it's a time to stay positive and to try and have faith that our government are doing the right thing but it seems to be harder and harder by the day. When he said that people who turned up at crowded parks and public spaces at the weekend “probably turned up not realising how bad they were going to be so I don’t think we should be berating people about this". It just seems very casual. Almost like "ah shur let them off". Seeing what is happening across Europe. And knowing we are a few weeks behind. I just found today a little unsettling. And if a lockdown does come. That it is not done too late. And that some of the baffling decisions made dont come back to haunt us. Wonder if any badly infected country would do what we are doing in our position. Stay safe people. |
