While I was out for my usual three mile walk yesterday evening, I was horrified to see large groups of teenagers hanging out all huddled together laughing and joking like it's the bloody mid-term break ffs.
As our small nation approaches 1000 confirmed cases of covid-19 and several hundred people critically ill in hospital, and four deaths. It's time for the parents of these teens to wake the fuck up and start taking responsibility!!!!!
Just remember the Lombardy region in Northern Italy went from one thousand cases of covid-19 to sixteen thousand cases in less than two weeks...

My kid's are cracking up at home but they understand they have to do it if we want to protect their Grandparents and everyone else. But their friends snap chat stories look like they are having a great time out and about. |

"Totally disagree there's parks and beaches full of adults packed in over the weekend ignoring the warning about keeping home and apart from each other....."
Glendalough and Slieve Bloom now closed to the public as adults didn't heed social distancing guidelines. They had to call the Air ambulance to a accident on Slieve Bloom at the weekend as cars were blocking the way. Garda and Ambulances have enough to be doing without this |

Ffs I wouldn’t consider my 4 teenagers as animals and they aren’t out roaming the streets looking for drugs or trouble either |

It's not the teenagers themselves I blame, it's their idiot parents. Most likely the same sort of d*unken idiots I witnessed all jumping into taxi on Saturday night off to meet some other d*unken idiots at a house party somewhere. Under normal circumstances they wouldn't be doing anything wrong by congregating in groups hanging out, but this isn't normal circumstances. there is a worldwide pandemic and vulnerable people are dying in large numbers..
Please Wake the fuck up parents!!!! |

Ah lads, stop with blaming young people for this. It is an extremely big ask of teenagers and young adults and the ones I know, mine included, are being really good about keeping to themselves. Hard as any of us might find it the natural inclination of teenagers to be together in a social groups at an age when they should be free to. My own brood haven’t been anywhere in days and are doing so with a stoic attitude that I admire.
I’m so sick of teenagers and young adults being maligned just because they are the easiest group to point at.
Aside from the current situation in which we find ourselves I take exception to anyone referring to teenagers as animals or saying we’ve got a problem with them. I don’t know where you are from or what social issues there might be in your area but the teenagers I interact with regularly give me hope for our species, bright, socially minded, inquisitive, fun and generally awesome we could all do with spending more time with them, listening to them and hearing what they have to say. They have a lot they could teach us.

"I work in security and I witness this on a daily basis. Large groups of teenagers hanging around the streets and shopping centres. When you ask them to separate and move on they only laugh.
I personally blame the parents for not having more control over them.
I hope parents and teenagers realise how serious this situation is and its only going to get worse "

Come on now you cant tar all teenagers with the same brush
They're not animals or the worst in Europe
We all make mistakes as we grow up including drugs, drink ,trouble with gangs and cops but thats how we learn acceptable and unacceptable behaviour.
The industry I work in can have 25,000 young adults enjoying themselves at a music festival.98% of them are great no trouble and the other 2% have taken drink or drugs and are arseholes
Probably adults taking drink and at parties with their friends every weekend is the same percentage

Unfortunately most of the people attending house parties at this stage in the midst of the covid-19 crisis are the progeny of alcoholics themselves, and are most likely living with fetal alcohol syndrome. It's totally impossible to reason with a brain damaged person like this. |

The teenagers you see congregating are most likely the ones with no safe place to go. For many young people school is their only safe space and teachers the only example of responsible adulting they see. That has been taken from them and just like many adult domestic violence victims stuck at home right now they have lost there refuge from their abuser. |

The number of cases is a concern but we need to realise most of them cases will make a full recovery but yes I agree people who are ignoring the warnings really need to cop on like its ok if 2 or 3 friends hang out but keeping their distances maybe if the Gardaí were given powers to punish those who isn't listening to the warnings then maybe they will think twice to ignore things |

This is spot on
Those teenagers may be escaping domestic or sexual abuse, they may have suffered at the hand of their parents their entire lives. If they stay indoors they may be risking more abuse or having to watch the same crimes against their siblings/the other parent. They may be terrified to tell anyone and feel that getting arrested is their safest option.
From now on I'm not even going to post on these types of discussions, if everyone done the same and stuck to the lighthearted, fun, mood lifting posts, eventually the dimwits will see their attention seeking behaviour is getting no attention and move on.

Those who aren't heeding the call for 'social distancing' aren't exclusive to any one demographic and to single out any particular group is purely disingenuous.
Yes, there are people playing too fast and loose with the recommended protocols but once more they are not people exclusive to one age/group. We must look after ourselves as best we can, focus on what we can control; I can't guarantee a person is washing their hands regularly but I can do so to myself.
Just like the constant questioning of people meeting on here, look after yourself. I can't control x, y and z from arranging meets but I can control not wanting to meet x, y and z. I can't control people going out and about but I can control not meeting them there.
Livelihoods have been lost, routine services turned upside down; childcare in most instances being unobtainable as some parents don't have the choice of staying at home and need to work.
Whilst it's not often in my nature to get involved in such things, OP, your complete lack of respect and sensitivity regarding this pandemic is nothing short of abhorrent.
What is currently happening throughout the entire world isn't an opportunity for anyone to shame another or generalise to the extent of suggesting people are "brain damaged". If it's an opportunity for anything it's to take stock of what matters to you and reflect.
Please don't take such a sensitive time, for everyone, as a chance to wind people up and pile on. |

Let's be honest here teenagers handing around in groups are a problem when it comes to social distancing.
Any time I have gone out over the last few days I seen groups of them everywhere. They are not bad kids doing anything out of the way other than just hanging out.
But it is their parents that need to make sure they are not doing this. And they know full well that they are doing it. They are just turning a blind eye to it. as it's easyier than having to put up with a moody teenager .....and they probably won't get sick anyway.

How dare you. I am playing my part to halt the transmission of covid-19, in my community by avoiding any physical contact with all my friends and family members. I only go to the supermarket when it's quiet to buy necessary items. I'm no longer receiving visitors at my home, I go for long walks on mostly deserted streets, and all I see are teenagers hanging out in large groups all huddled together laughing and joking.
If these feral teens, the progeny of alcoholic parents who couldn't give a damn about others in their community, then I fear it's only a matter of time before martial law is declared, and a curfew imposed with the army shooting anyone acting like idiots... |

Not just teenagers, younger kids in our area going round in groups.
Parks, beaches and other public places were busy at the weekend.
Won't be long until the army will step in and force everyone to do as the government asks. |

The eastern world, it is explodin',
Violence flarin', bullets loadin',
You're old enough to kill but not for votin',
You don't believe in war, but what's that gun you're totin',
And even the Jordan river has bodies floatin',
But you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.
Don't you understand, what I'm trying to say?
And can't you feel the fears I'm feeling today?
If the button is pushed, there's no running away,
There'll be no one to save with the world in a grave,
Take a look around you, boy, it's bound to scare you, boy,
And you tell me over and over and over again my friend. |

I’m applauded at the going on of people not doing the separation distance . A lot would think differently if they had a child and parent with severe unlined health conditions. I have been in isolation for three weeks due to the fact I have a child and parents with underlining conditions . I’m sick to death and can’t sleep with worry . Please cop on. |

"A more liberal friend of mine allowed her teenage daughter to bring her boyfriend home. They spend most of their time in her bedroom fucking like wild dogs, sleeping, arguing, playing video games, and smoking dope. But at least they are safe. "

"I’m applauded at the going on of people not doing the separation distance . A lot would think differently if they had a child and parent with severe unlined health conditions. I have been in isolation for three weeks due to the fact I have a child and parents with underlining conditions . I’m sick to death and can’t sleep with worry . Please cop on."
Sorry you're in a bad way with worry.
If it makes you feel any better I think everyone is about to be told to stay out of work and all beaches and parks closed
Stay safe mate |

"Ah lads, stop with blaming young people for this.

It's more then just teenagers. I had an appointment today and passed a park filled with small kids and there parents. When out for a drive and I do mean a drive on Sunday the crowds of people out in general was rediclous. |

From Independent:
A young nurse who was swarmed by a gang of more than 15 teenagers on bicycles who purposely coughed on her and two elderly people in a sick social media stunt....
I was really surprised, teenagers are really lovely |
