"I see memes of Alex Ferguson holding the vial and releasing it
Is he not dead?
Only Liverpool winning the League can harm him"
Dunno if you seen Kai Havertz last night he's being linked today!
Kaizer is a big Kai fan |

If it was mathematically won then yeah.
There's talks of just handing them the title if the season has to be cancelled.
To me that's not being champions.
I'd rather start again next season than having that asterix behind it.
It would be a tainted title.
If we'd won a few, fair enough but not for the first one.
Just my opinion. |

Joking aside, if the league was cancelled then as much as we all know Liverpool would have been Champions I don't think you can just "give" them the title.
The ramifications in terms of the relegation spots, promoted teams, playoff spots, Champions league, FA Cup etc would be too complex.
Would a teams be "given" the Champions League because they're odds on with the bookies for example?
You couldn't have a title winner but no teams relegated.
Leicester won 7 of their last 9 to stay up the season before they won the league, teams like Norwich and even teams in the playoff spots in the Championship would argue they could do the same.
As much as people may think it's convenient for some clubs to just void the season, I think it's not only the most logical and practical solution but hopefully even a catalyst for executives, fans and the like to realise there's more important things than money, TV deals and kicking a ball about. |

The only fair way I think is to set plans to postpone next season and take how ever long it takes to finish the current one.
Regardless of Liverpool and the title, there's clubs in the lower leagues that can't afford to have the season wrote off. |

Applying a points average to the remaining games makes most sense. It'd be different if this happened 10/15 games in but 30 have been played.
Apply it across the board, as most leagues are already decided anyway |

They can't afford to have games postponed though. It's not just not having the fixtures at all but not having that immediate income that's the issue for those clubs.
Where do you draw the line on finishing the season and playing catch up to then starting the new one?
There's players out of contract this summer. Take David Silva for example, if the league is stopped and restarted in August do City still have him? Is that fair to the teams in the relegation battle that they could play "weaker" big teams or even lose their players to being out of contract? The integrity of the competition is compromised then.
Also, when does the transfer window start? Could the league restart with Mane at Barcelona or De Bruyne at Madrid?
Teams need time to train again and regain natch fitness. Lawyers would have a field day with the aforementioned contract situation too.
The complexities are too much in my opinion. |

You couldn't have an average points system either in my opinion because you completely take away the "love" of football.
Look at Sunderland in 13/14; They gained a point at the Etihad, a win at Old Trafford and ending Mourinho's home record with a win at Stamford bridge all at this stage of the season to stay up!
Leicester the year before they won the league won 7 of their last 9. West Brom being bottom at Christmas to staying up on the final day!
Lawyers alone, again, would bite your arm off to have a go at taking the league on for denying the unpredictability and very nature of football.
It's unfortunate for Liverpool fans, Leeds fans etc and I genuinely do feel bad for those supporters because we all know how invested we do get about football but this is so unprecedented that it calls for unprecedented measures.
As much as the gap is 20+ points the reality is that in this situation it may as well be one point. Same goes for teams at both ends of every table in my opinion. |

This same love of football is also going to dismiss an 80% played season |

The competition will have to be finished especially as it's 7 months in even if it means cancelling or postponing the euros. Same with all european leagues. They have to take precedent over a competition that hasn't even started. |

Exactly and you can't wrote off something 80% complete. There's people involved in this being paid a shitload of money to come up with a resolution. Surprisingly the views on any online forum matter very little |

The most sensible thing is to finish off all the competitions during the summer. Then starting next season in late September with a more condensed calender |

Except youre wrong...why do so many supporters of utd get upset over Liverpool winning another league title.

Im old enough to remember sitting beside clemence Hansen,Hughes, kennedy,,Thompson,Case,Heighway,
,McDermott,Souness ,Dalglish,Fairclough and Bob Paisley on a bus coming from Dublin airport as a kid when they flew in to play Shamrock rovers in 78 so I'm old enough to remember the great liverpool teams.
Do I think the supporters are special...yes because I've family in liverpool
I also respect other teams and watch them playing matches but hope they dont win.
Do Liverpool deserve the title....no one does but they will win it.
I dont thank a god that i dont believe in for a virus that might stop them but I also think that the money men wont allow the league to be cancelled |

Very few teams as it was each country's champions not top 3 or 3
Forest - Champions
Villa - Champions
Celtic - Champions
Man U - Champions yet ironically not Champions in 99 |

"Liverpool last 2 .they weren't champions
They got in the back door .
So never won the champions league and they were never champions "
Not one mention of Liverpool as champion.
You are the one disrespecting those other teams as they won the competition, on its merits at that time!
Example: Sorry Brazil one of those World Cups ye won is no good because there was only 12 teams in it not 32
You're basically disrespecting all football and teams prior to some marketing gurus rebranding the English League and European Cup in the 1990's.
Finally pay attention to actual facts, all current competitions WILL be completed before any new Competitions commence, as of today's latest news.

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of a storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
