with everything been cancelled & people being asked to minimise meetings, should people re consider Fab meets , private meets or club meets.
currently numbers are low but could escalate... could be a quiet St Patricks weekend at home with just beer & Netflix |

People with no underlying immune issues, plus proper hygiene (should be normal anyway) should be at no extra risk unless in direct contact with someone infected. I don't think I will let it stop me going about my normal life |

it's TRUE that for the moment we should be okay, Corona is somewhat controlled at present but if it gets out into the general population then numbers could escalate.
I'm not worried for myself but for elderly relatives & family with impaired immune systems.

I get enough rejection as it is, if ladies can use The Corona Virus as another excuse, I am screwed :p

Yeah generally those who are of good health and as stated good hygiene there shouldn't be a problem sure isnt that the normal thing to be doing anyway the fact people are running for those hand sanitizers only now when there is an outbreak is amusing like were they not washing their hands before this started lol |

It's not always possible to wash hands, like being in a shop. After opening doors, etc. |

Many shops have bathrooms these days and even if they don't people should be carrying around hand sanitizers anyway not when a sudden outbreak occurs it's simple common sense |

It's not all about the fatality rate, it's the huge impact and consequences that a widespread of the Corona virus causes. And those social and economical chain reactions will hit us all. Not trying to scaremonger but playing it down with death statistics isn't helping. |

I honestly think there is a lot of overreacting it's the god damn news coverage that's scaremongering this panic buying etc is just ludicrous its like when we had that snowfall a couple years back people thought it was the end of the world panic buying again people just need to chill and simply use common sense it's nothing new |

I think the over use of hand sanitizer and disinfectants etc has a lot to do with these viruses being the problem that they are today, basically people's immune system has no resistance anymore. |

You only find that one out when it strikes. Also there's a lot of more vulnerable people out there than you and me. I'm sure you have family members or friends that might be at much higher risk. As long as there's no vaccine or drug the only option is to keep the amount of infections as low as possible just alone to prevent the health system from collapsing. |

Yup, its mostly social media.
C'mon! Flu virus was worse every year and what? Millions died? Nope.
People think! Do not panic! It is not apocalypse (yet)
Do you realise how this disorganise work in the hospitals?
I have seen a tweet from the doctor who worked over 20years with people sick on different diseases in Africa. And he advised CALM down, do not panic.
Yes, I agree elderly people and these with a weak immune system are in the front to catch anything from flu to pneumonia and can die. PREVENT is a way to minimise the risk we spread it further.
I thought Ive seen everything in my life but in the country like Ireland people were fighting for a soap, toilet paper and sanitiser?!
Its ridiculous how you have been all manipulated by all media |

numbers rising, but still contained, however if Corona gets out into the general population it may be a different story... cant be long before GAA & League of Ireland games are played behind closed doors...theatres with seating for more than 1000 may have to re think admission policy...if other countries are taking these steps, cant be long before Ireland follows |

Something like this has a devastating effect upon global economy and ironically can have little effect upon an individual who takes certain precautions.
Asia's richest man in the world lost 5.8 billion, 50% of his net worth inside 72 hrs. Economies based upon crude oil may collapse in the wake of this as Russia and Saudi battle for control. Italy which already had the biggest debt of European countries and propped up fro EU will have to change how it functions. EU as we see it may collapse.
Yet most who live day to day hand to mouth, and the reality is most of us do, will continue to do much the same.
Some worry about lack of toilet paper.... Well just wash your arse and stop contributing to global warming with deforestation. Drink tap water instead of retapped bottled. Most of us eat 3x what our body really needs.
The biggest fear is change, most don't like it and don't want it.
Well..... On a more positive not most of our current climate problems are due to commercialism, capitalistic excess and control. Maybe something like this may help people genuinely rethink what's really important, and change. |

"Doctor on television says our own common flu kills thousands every year. People just love a good bit of hysteria"
Flu is seasonal so we at least know the spread and deaths stop at the end of feb. We dont know yet about this virus if it will take summer holidays or not. There is also a vaccine for flu which there is not for this.
Buying 3 minth supply of toilet roll is hysteria I agree....
Trying to limit the spread of a virus that kills people until we know its pattern and create a vaccine is common sense imo |

Definitely. What is interesting though is very few pooling resources or worse sharing anything at the moment. They all want the find, the patent, the potential billions it will provide and the control of it.
Just seen the stupidest headline news in the Mail, Britain only two weeks away from lockdown like Italy. Talk about creating hysteria and fake news.
My understanding of the flu vaccine is that's it's only effective on certain strains of it and the authorities are always trying to predict what strain will hit. They don't often get it right to quote a GP friend. |

The headline isn't as stupid as you make it. While Asian countries have adopted swiftly drastic measures to slow down the rate, and did so with success, Europe is still tiptoeing. And if you look how quickly the situation spiralled out of control in Italy, there's a good chance you could see this repeated in other European countries. We've been too compacent so far. Check out the guardian article how Asian countries deal with it. |

"I have a strong immune system, so that's half the battle. That and lots of carbolic soap should keep me healthy. "
You work in close contact with members of the public and that is your response, you will take basic hand washing, but if you catch it kissing or fucking or at parties oh well, no harm done, and if you pass it onto a client and they kill their parent or geandparent then oh well, thats their tough shit. |

It's not really surprising that people on this site will keep on meeting because they believe it to be hyperbole and the risk is lower to them due to age. It's not really surprising for them o admit elderly who catch it will die but it's an acceptable risk for them to take to get their dick wet.
Its not surprising that they would risk your parents lives, your grandparents lives just so they can have sex.
I mean they are risking their own reality lives too, so what do yours matter to them.
There is only a 1 percent chance they will die, that's all that matters. |

"I have a strong immune system, so that's half the battle. That and lots of carbolic soap should keep me healthy.
You work in close contact with members of the public and that is your response, you will take basic hand washing, but if you catch it kissing or fucking or at parties oh well, no harm done, and if you pass it onto a client and they kill their parent or geandparent then oh well, thats their tough shit." |

Trying to limit the spread of a virus that kills people until we know its pattern and create a vaccine is common sense imo
Ya as DH said its not that unrealistic....
People do need to start planning for some public services to be closed. |

Good friend of mine is a journalist living and working in Italy and from day one he rightly said Italians simple will not listen to their government or health agencies until it's to late. It's a cultural thing, they don't like being told what to do even if it's in their own best interest.
Another side to it, a family member had a kidney transplant 9 days ago. Obviously he is at risk like a friend with CF who had a double lung transplant 4 years ago. CF friend in a round about way was told other people's lack of hygiene is likely to kill the high risk people like him. Those who say "ah sure I'll be grand, I'm fit and healthy" . Neither are panicky or dramatic, what's the point. You can't force common sense on the general public. Panic buying is pointless but people failing to do the basics is unforgivable when the death rate increases |

Interesting how new information just released says China has found out already how this virus attaches itself and attacks. According to many this information usually takes much longer to find out.
Either they have been very fortunate or its been around a lot longer albeit in a lab being studied or developed.
Maybe they'll soon release a vaccine which has already been tested on humans. Usually takes minimum 2 yrs for that but then another 5 to regulate side effects. |

In that case it will probably take a few months They will speed up the process.

They didn't lock down Italy for the fun of it and it's a lot worse over there than what they're saying ...if you haven't read it , they've found a second strain of it ,more aggressive and more contagious ,it's mutated from the 1st strain ..this virus is a serious issue and has now been classes as a pandemic by the World Health Organisation ( l was gonna say by the WHO but some smart fucker would say what would a band know about it )... |

All viruses mutate to some extent the mutation you're referring to happened just after it crossed from animals to humans. This is normal when it moves from one host to another, in particular from one species to another. Both are prevalent but there is no current evidence that the L has mutated, according to the WHO and scientists currently studying it.

According to the cdc at least 12 thousand people have died this flu season October 2019 - February 2020 but thanks to the flu vaccine and the knowledge on how to treat said flu, it could have been in its millions. Mass hysteria and stockpiles won’t help, common sense and good hygiene will, but even yesterday I seen people leaving toilets without washing their hands and people not covering their mouths/nose when they cough/sneeze |

And can you imagine they didnt wash they hands and ate fries or sandwich afterward?
I use a sanitiser gel after shaking anybody's hand since ages. Im responsible for my health and do not care if for other people it looks strange. People can spread anything. Washing hands and using antibacterial gel or wipes minimize the risk to spread or get infected. Washing veggies and fruits using hot water and adding vinegar and soda also helps. It isnt only remove the chemicals were sprayed to keep them fresh.
The simplest and well-known method is good hygiene. Rest is your immune system.

If only there was some kinda disease that sexually active people had to be aware of.... Tested for regularly... And take all necessary reasonable precautions to avoid contracting?
At least then we could say that (most of us!) have some experience with being personally responsible for our own health and that of those close to us. ...
IF. ONLY.

I've heard people talking about this virus and it's spread and tell me it's being taken far too seriously.
1.) Saying that it only impacts the elderly and those who are immunecompromised is degrading, cruel and incorrect. More importantly what you fail to realize is by not protecting yourself, you become a vector of transmission.
2.) This is worse than the flu. It will likely outpace the flu with the number of people diagnosed (unless public health agencies and governments manage to gain control). But beyond that, it carries a mortality rate which is between 3-7%.
There will be that one individual who isn't showing any symptoms and decides they're alright and they will join in the fun at a party, social or meet and all they come in contact with will be carriers. They maybe fit and well and not fall ill but will then spread it to all family and work members. In your mind you may think I'm alright but It only takes one to come along because they don't want to miss out on some fun and can't conceive that they won't get another chance and be the catalyst.
As an organiser will you take that responsibility of facilitating that? Have you everyone's contact and address available to hand over to relevant authorities to inform them? How will you fair here after facilitating an outbreak?
As an individual are you happy that you're 100% safe from carrying it?
The sexytimes will return. Make good choices that protect yourselves and others in the community (it doesn't start and stop at the party)
For those who simply think it's over HYPE, please think again. Do you really think governments around the world are just bringing in emergency contingencies because they have nothing else to do and have to find ways of spending billions of excess money they need to spend before the new tax year?
Vaccines don't arrive easily either and may never as SARS and Bird Flu have shown. People have slowly built up immune systems to better cope. That's probably what will happen with this over the years. We all need to take the responsible care not just for ourselves but for others and the swing community of all people should understand that above others. |

"with everything been cancelled & people being asked to minimise meetings, should people re consider Fab meets , private meets or club meets.
currently numbers are low but could escalate... could be a quiet St Patricks weekend at home with just beer & Netflix
Yeah generally those who are of good health and as stated good hygiene there shouldn't be a problem sure isnt that the normal thing to be doing anyway the fact people are running for those hand sanitizers only now when there is an outbreak is amusing like were they not washing their hands before this started lol
It's not always possible to wash hands, like being in a shop. After opening doors, etc. "
It’s important that after being in a shop, after touching door handles , after being in a taxi, after touching anything that someone else has possibly touched that you don’t start putting your fingers in your eyes, mouth, nose and make best efforts to find somewhere to wash your hands. Unfortunately, too many people either can’t be arsed or say it’s all too difficult. That’s why it spreads. Lazy people |

"People with no underlying immune issues, plus proper hygiene (should be normal anyway) should be at no extra risk unless in direct contact with someone infected. I don't think I will let it stop me going about my normal life
it's TRUE that for the moment we should be okay, Corona is somewhat controlled at present but if it gets out into the general population then numbers could escalate.
I'm not worried for myself but for elderly relatives & family with impaired immune systems.
"
I couldn't agree more. The more we are out socialising the more chance of it spreading. The whole point of isolation is to eradicate as much as possible here. Realistically it could take over 3 weeks before anyone knows the have it. It's an RNI virus no one knows if it has lasting effects or could reappear again as it could potentially stay in our nervous system. I'd rather keep my loved ones safe!!!! |

Yeah I agree that if nation governments are so worried about it than it is a very good indicator of how serious this is. Sporting events, businesses, multinational offices shout....massive hit to economies.
As a HSE expert said, we should all be acting as if we are carrying it. And yes it may not affect a certain demographic but your actions affect others. This includes your family and also passing it onto another person, who passes it on......domino affect.
Lets not forget that it is not just older people who are at risk, it is also younger fit people that may have condition that is perfectly under control until they get this new risk.....such as having asthma.......like myself.
We all need to do our small bit because if we don't and it gets out of control, the country only has a certain amount of medical resources and then some hard calls will have to made. These resources are already at breaking point as we only well know. |

Look at reports coming out of Italy where doctors are forced to choose who they put on the respirator as there’s not enough to go round. We should delay the spread not go with herd immunity unless we’re pretty sure our NHS can cope with it. Struggling economies 'going under', (they'll just print more money and borrow more), companies will go bust, many big ones. Malls will close as banks remain what they can, malls are already struggling. ( Bear in mind most mall owners are world market players and some have list billions in the past month), oil prices are dropping as theirs a war on between Saudi and Russia as Saudi has increased output way beyond demand to take control. (All this electric car business may come crashing as huge investment and borrowing on business plans and government policies). Small businesses have hiked prices up as people rush, opportunity to make more profits, caused by irrationality. The panic is predominantly by tech driven or tech reliant people and those totally given over to the state.
Been having an interesting dialog with a couple good friends who chose many years ago to live off the grid and reduce their reliance upon government and its control. |

Tinder has put out a warning that all should cover up. There's a lot from here on it.
The short answer is that experts really don’t know. “What we know thus far is that COVID-19 is present in respiratory secretions,” Kristin Englund, MD, of the department of infectious disease.
The article goes on to say, " that until they do further studies related to that the cannot comment without data, but reading between the lines it could. It's passed by body fluids, coughing, sneezing are the current ways it's been tested.
The article goes on to say the greatest risk of transmission is from those who are symptomatic, ie those who don't show signs of it but are carrier. |

Yes, Corona Virus is most dangerous to old and those with other illnesses. However, the knock on effect of an overwhelmed health service will be that many those with serious illnesses but aren't affected by coronavirus will not receive they required standard of care, and many of those will die. Those deaths will be caused by Covid19, indirectly yes, but still caused by this crisis |

You can catch a sexually transmitted disease without penetration. Some just from skin to skin contact such as various forms of HPV.
I don't wish to be rude but it seems an irresponsible attitude to have to assume there's minimal to no health risks involved unless there's penetration.
That's just with regards to common sexual health, not COVID-19 on top of it. |

Just to explain it a bit simpler about my earlier comment. Both of you can take every precaution, wash in santiser or soap, mouth wash cleansed, all surfaces cleansed etc etc and think it's all good and then have fun. It's known to be transmitted through body fluids. Though the data isn't there yet as the article said, this could also be sexual bodily fluids and I'm then guessing maybe sweat too. |

"Something like this has a devastating effect upon global economy and ironically can have little effect upon an individual who takes certain precautions.
Maybe something like this may help people genuinely rethink what's really important, and change."
I agree. EU will collapse sooner than later.
All the countries will be in crisis and there wouldn't be nothing than just grab everything in each country's hands and try to survive.
Its a virus like other in a flu group. Its not something new. If it will be new and produced in lab sorry but 60% of population on Earth will be gone already.
Lots of small businesses shut down within a week, maybe a month. Big companies will have a loss but they will survive anyway.

No fake. Its a virus and you can spread it very easy like other viruses. Its in the flu group so it means not only sneezing or coughing but also sweating, and any other body fluids.
People are right here.
You can be sterilise from head to toes, sterilise the room and if you are a carrier you might infect your sex partner.
And married people - say yes to your spouse and enjoy the rides

No fab mets for me. I will not be contributing to the problem. Il be avoiding unnecessary contact. While I may be fine I'm not passing it onto those at risk. I would not intentionally get sick for the sake of the ride. |
