Imo after getting a few tattoos the new age modern stuff looks great but fades out over time, now I just stick to traditional type "sailor Jerry" style as they look as good as when I first got them, or just plain black bold lines.

Don't know if it's mid life crisis in my case but similar thoughts in my head.

No ink now on me , might change soon.

Tattoos look great on other people, but I would never consider getting one myself, because coloured tattoo ink has very high mercury sulphate levels. This is associated with all manner of endocrinological disorders.

Got my first a little over a year ago; a falcon on the inside of my bicep.

Just last week I sent off the design I'd like on the outside of my right forearm; just a few Roman numerals of meaning to me

Funny you say that I did meet a motor neuron sufferer recently who had mercury fillings in the 80s and was told by specialists it's a possible cause of the disease, but nothing proven...

Got my first at 18, a circular design similar to my first initial..

second was a year or so later, a design off a record sleeve of a song i loved... the om symbol

third was my sons name done with indian ink on my right breast done by my late friend who took his own life a few months after..

Fourth was a design i made up following one of the worst and best year of my life (1998) in between my shoulder blades.

Fifth is our star signs (my wife and i) in an infinity loop on my right leg, from knee to ankle

Sixth is my kids star signs in an infinity loop on my left leg, from knee to ankle..

More on the way

I did not laugh. But it is really funny knowing what tattoo represents vs seeing you. The tattoo itself is lovely and another one too.

Got my first at 20 then a few more over the next few years. It was stuff with no specific reason and not really great work. So, I spent a lot of time over the last (and money) having them covered with stuff I love (Old School Americana and Nautical style ink).

Get ink, but just make sure you get something you can look at for the next half century

Hate tattoos on men. Makes them look cheap and insecure in their own bodies. As for neck and head tattoos, whats going on there????

However, tasteful little tattoos on women are quite attractive.

Thats just my view. Open to hostile abuse now no doubt from heavily tattooed men! ??

Glad I didn't get one when I was younger as I've evolved a lot as a person and anything done then would probably make me cringe now. So no, not going to be getting one at this stage of my life!

To be honest, while mine don't bother me at all, if I hadn't have ever gotten any I probably would never get one now.

I've had them so long now they're no more significant to me than scars or marks. They're just there.

Got my first one when I was 17 in South Africa of an anchor.

I was volunteering for 3 months in an orphanage and my favorite little baby had been attacked pretty badly by a dog and had a scar on his cheek in the exact shape of an anchor.

Now building up a sleeve on my arm slowly but surely. They're so addictive!

Very judgmental view.. cheap shot as well... look inside for your own securities...getting tattoos are personal and tell a story, remind you of a time, a place, a person, whatever you want it to be..

You wouldn't be able for the outline never mind the rest..

Ah come off it, who needs a tattoo to remind them of a place, a time or a person im all seriousness?

Im perfectly happy with how I look. I dont need tattoos to suppliment any shortcomings.

And if they are personal, why inflict them on everyone else by wearing t shirts in winter to show the ink?

However, tasteful little tattoos on women are quite attractive.

Because it's fun to offend idiots? I'm pretty sure that's why I've gotten all of mine.

Wait. No. I think it was actually more about drawing attention to the body I'm apparently so insecure about.

The low key hostility towards guys with tattoos is a little strange...

If you dont like them cool but why infer that everyone gets them to supplement some short comings.

Inflict them? ha ha swear they were shoving them up in your face making you look at them. Girls with tattoos are grand but men who get them are insecure. riiiiight. myself and my husband have tattoos because we want them and we like them. judgy judgy much? If you dont like tattoos its fine. personal choice at the end of the day but honestly your attitude in the way you come across about them is pretty shite. just saying

"Hate tattoos on men. Makes them look cheap and insecure in their own bodies. As for neck and head tattoos, whats going on there????

However, tasteful little tattoos on women are quite attractive.

Thats just my view. Open to hostile abuse now no doubt from heavily tattooed men! ??

Very judgmental view.. cheap shot as well... look inside for your own securities...getting tattoos are personal and tell a story, remind you of a time, a place, a person, whatever you want it to be..

You wouldn't be able for the outline never mind the rest..

Ah come off it, who needs a tattoo to remind them of a place, a time or a person im all seriousness?

Im perfectly happy with how I look. I dont need tattoos to suppliment any shortcomings.

And if they are personal, why inflict them on everyone else by wearing t shirts in winter to show off the ink?

The low key hostility towards guys with tattoos is a little strange...

If you dont like them cool but why infer that everyone gets them to supplement some short comings.

I called it earlier, I think they make his willy all twitchy and make it leaking happy drops (his boxers probably look like a snail has been doing donuts in them).

As such, he feels conflicted and is on a mission to vanquish us rugged tattoo types before he buckles and adds Sam Smith to his Spotify playlist "

Im not able. buckled

Got my first when I was 50 and added to it 2 years ago. Partly in memory of my mother who had just passed and partly as a reminder to myself of my newly discovered journey through life. Designed my own tribal shoulder tattoo.

some where in outer space

My first tattoo was when I was 21 or so... It was on my belly ... I just wanted a tattoo ! And picked some old Chinese writing from a book .... It probably says I've Corona virus !

Anyway after that I had one when I was about 30 ...again another fabulous idea on my butt cheek ...

Then I got my feet tattooed ,then my shins , thighs ... Ok u can see where it's going I've 19!... love them all. ...

Go for it op ... Decorate tht blank canvas

Dont like them to be honest.

It's probably because I got quite a few of them as a teenager and they wouldn't be seen as too politically correct now.

I was a different person back then and I did get some of the more offensive ones lasered off though.

Saying that, I have some seen some fantastic ones and I wish I wasnt such an idiot back then
