I'm proud to be Irish but I'm ashamed of the way Ireland is.
From corrupt government
For the rich getting richer housing Syrians.
We are letting them destroy Ireland.
The list goes on.
There is no hope for your average working human been.
You go to work pay your bills and repeat .
Is it really worth it ?
When you see people on benefits which seem to be better off.
I'm lucky to have a good salary. But I know plenty who may just be earning €250 more than someone on benefits. Take the cost traveling etc out off it.
So you tell me who's better off.

Is it just me or is a trend to post their literature in ur mail box without engaging with the public in this election. I have sent all the local candidates their junk mail back saying if u want my vote knock on my door and engage in my concerns for mine and their future not a knock on the door as of yet |

I posted about this another site when this topic came up.
I have no issue with people on benefits who genuinely can't work.
I have an issue with people receiving benefits who have no intention of ever getting a job. There's quite a few people I went to school with who are happy to receive their dole every week and avail of whatever government schemes are available. If you're claiming for a prolonged period you should have a valid reason for doing so. If you don't you should have to contribute somehow. For example, get them out working with the council 2-3 days per week cleaning park's, painting public buildings, removing grafitti etc. It they refuse to do it or they don't turn up then they lose some of their payment. |

But that's only a very small part of the problem. Personally I wish we could oust all the parties instead of going around in third vicious circle of ff and fg every time we get pissed off with one of them. Fuck the whole lot of them out and start with an entirely new party. And what's with all these golden handshakes and pensions. They are all just laughing at us.... all the way to the banks |

Most of the so called politicians have zero clue about what they are doing and how the regular people live nor are they in any way qualified to actually do what they are doing. would it not be more prudent in having actual professionals deal with matters in hand. For example accountant, ecomonists etc running the financial sector, doctors etc in health etc.
I agree that more needs to be done as regards long term people claiming the dole their whole lives and not doing a tap as well as people fiddling the system. They are, however, a very small part of the problem when it comes to vast sums of money that is being sent out of the country and politicians getting pay rises and massive pensions when there are elderly who can barely survive on their pension and now being told they cant claim it until they are 68.
The justic system and sentencing needs to be massively overhauled. There are people running around on the streets with conviction sheets as long as your arm and then you have the likes of what happened to that lad up the country and people wonder how did we get here? its pretty easy to see how we got here really |

Basically in today's Ireland you're seen as no worth or value if you're not in a position to pay taxes. Elderly, homeless, mental health sufferers, chronic illness, disabled, unemployed(you can argue people on the dole are looked after, but I mean people who have worked all there lives, lose a job and are trying to keep afloat).
All discarded by our government because they can't be robbed,...Sorry ahem....pay taxes. |

No better under UK rule
I've been a single working mum for the last 12yrs and have been fucked over because I work
I was constantly told don't work by family and friends, but I enjoy working but my wage is in one hand and out the other with nothing left over for the nice things in life |

Years of FF & FG putting business first, letting a select few have the cream off the top.
They only give people on benefit so much because they want the vote, they don't actually care about them. There is no thought behind it, just take a handfull of cash, throw it at them and tell them to fuck off.
The biggest problem though is Irish peoples attitudes. When the social housing list filled up, they put a priority on single mums. There were girls out there having more babies to have a house. The list filled up.
So now if you are a woman, you got qualified in college/Uni, you took your job, you pay your taxes, you're basically punished by having to spend every single penny you earn on a bedroom in a shared house. Your only hope of getting a home is to pair up with someone, as all houses are priced for two or more wages.
Ireland needs people on the lowest wages to be able to afford a decent life, a decent 1/2 bedroom apartment, money in their pocket, a holiday once a year, and not worry about food.
How far away are we from that? a low earner having a nice basic life? we are fucking light years away from it.
Its no wonder people jump off the train and just go on welfare. I mean they can see there is no future for them the way they are going, a bedroom, a fucking bedroom for the rest of their life?
Its a joke.

Ireland is not thinking about the working class people ..
The working class had most of the cuts and higher taxes put on to them over the last number of years. The work class are the people who are helping to get this country back on its feet.. but we are treated like second class citizens. To be honest i dont mind waiting for my pension at the age 67 , as long as everyone else in the country wait as well. Politicians enspecially. Does a politician work hard then me.i am a mother, carer, teacher, nurse, cleaner, taxi , cook, that all before i actually go to work for the day . Please on polling day vote with your feet and your heart. |

Pay people very well to do nothing.....and guess what happens?
They do nothing very well!
Dole is there for a reason, people who fall on hard times are entitled to it and deserve it but there are far too many fit healthy people taking the piss and making a career out of it and doing wee cash jobs on the side.
Someone like that on the dole has a better standard of living than those working hard on near minimum wage.
That needs to be addressed I think and funnel the money saved into health system for more beds |

Ah not this RA shite again, youre letting the black and tans run it now, decendants of the free state who executed their own. Selfish ignoramus who stood by while all the talented youth piled out or killed themselves. Who really has blood on their hands? |

Two main parties both centerist.. means just swapping like for like each time. Ireland needs a political kick up the arse. Its a shame its gonna be SF but hey lets see what happens. We need a few new parties who are right and left now that the old FF-FG wrinklies are ageing out of the system. |

Given that the number of parties who have ever got into power here is so small I'm not sure how you can say that they're all the same.
They're not, clearly, it's just the two main ones are practically identical and the two minor ones who have gone into power with them in the past did so for the sake of being in power.
Try voting for change and it can happen. Voting for the same thing isn't voting for change though. |

Does it really matter at the end of the day? sure the top civil servants(advisors) will still be in situ as they have been since before the crash, protected by the unions, making decisions that won't effect them or their secured pensions only to laden more taxes on the hard pressed decent ordinary working people.Who ever forms a Government, they are only a front to the layer that is lying beneath and lean in to their ears.Yes Minister comes to mind! |

That's necessary unfortunately. Tou cant have a complete change of all staff after each election. |
