"Be very careful if female no travelling alone ..few irish woman have been r"ped and murdered in the last few years ..cant tar everyone in india with the same brush but just be cautious "
No more than in Dublin , Cork, Manchester or London. Same advice no matter where you go. Just simple common sense.
I'd like specific evidence that it's Irish women.
Some places in India are no less safe than some areas in the UK and Ireland.

My experience there has only been while accompanied by the highest caste people.
Their super rich are super richer than ours, their rich are richer, their middle class are higher, and their poor are poorer.
Dont get mixed up in things. Try and hold back the Irish friendliness because you literally wont see any indication if someone is from their drug dealing area or another nicer area. Just like an american might not be able to spot a gypsie/skanger/d4 head apart.
Of course not everyone in Finglas is a drug dealing scumbag, most are lovely, like not every d4 head is a posh scumbag, loads are lovely. When youre blindly mixing with people the big risk is you end up with people that may cause trouble.
This didnt happen me in India, but it happened me in France, although obvious to french people that they were scumbags, I talked to them and became friends, and later found out they were murderers, drug dealers, and football hooligans. I just went "oh they are nice to me so I will have a drink".
Thats the biggest thing Irish people need to take into account when going abroad. Imagine they are from a bad area in Dublin, but maybe a nice person from that area, and dont treat them any better than that until its shown otherwise.
Its all about enjoying the place will keeping the drama to yourself minimum.
Also I know a fair bit of hindi they love when you can speak bits. It tickles them pink. Namaste merra naam devil hey |

Perspective is a good thing as is personal experience. Two Irish ladies visiting a country that has 1 6th of the works population. Pretty good odds compared to riding the Luas late at night in your own country or an I scaremongering about public transport in Dublin?
India is quite a safe place and contrary to what some would have us believe it's no less unsafe than most places. Common sense and awareness of culture goes a long way. Even here. |

Im sure it is a safe country..its important to stay safe in any location but in recent years gruesome sex crimes have been perpetrated in india..that latvian lady was actually beheaded but like you said Ireland is just as dangerous after what happened to the drogheda lad |

Best way to see India for a solo traveller with limited time is to go with a small group tour, you cover a lot more ground and take the hassle away of getting from a to b.
Travel probiotics are a welcome addition to your travel case, wont stop you getting Delphi belly but puts it off for longer and its a milder dose |

You may consider malaria prevention medicine. You need to take one tablet a day a week before the trip and then one each day. Don't eat street food. Best to be vegetarian for the duration of the visit, meat is not popular so may not be prepared well.
Get out of a cow's way and take a stick to ward off dogs if walking at night. |

Hey OP. India is a land in crisis. Too much freely available US hardcore porn available to too many uneducated men who have no chance of getting sex. Western women do stick out simply because everything that looks different automatically does so, and as the only experience of western women for many of these men is through porn, you do need to be extra careful.
Start taking B vitamins to ward off mosquitoes at least three months before you go and take a good probiotic both in advance and during your visit. This will prevent stomach problems as long as you stick to bottled water and not have ice in your drinks.
Enjoy your trip |

Thank you!
I think our trip to India must be postponed for a few years because of life events |

Things are not that bad in here.
It's as safe as UK /US or any other country..
It's just about being at wrong place at wrong time which is true for any place/city/country..
Smart planning and being careful always help..
Don't let some uninformed opinions detest you from traveling to India.. let me know when ever you intend to go, I will be happy to help you out.. |
