I wouldn't set eyes on the Late Late Show, even for something as good as a Shane McGowan tribute.

Would you expect anything less on the Late Late Show?

Made the most of his life?!?

He's a relatively young wheelchair bound alcoholic and drug addict that's been clinging to life for years

Wasted his talent and life more like

I honestly thought he was dead. I distinctly remember an article his wife wrote about a year ago. Thought it was after his death. Must have been a dream

His new teeth make him look like the head of a rocking horse. Philomena Begly was appalling. She was singing the words off a karaoke machine

I didn't see it but I'm curious as to why Philomena Begley was on it. It seems odd to me.

Aha... Thanks for that. They seem like a bizarre combination although they're used to be rumours decades ago that she was a bit of a party animal!

She was a right party animal when she played London in the 70s and 80s. Nothing against Macgowan ,i did watch the show and it was real car crash tv. Could think of several people more deserving of a tribute show than him.Being famous for one decent song and being an alcoholic drug taker isnt a good reason .

In fairness to macgowan he wrote many good songs and some great ones

He has or had a way with words and of telling a story in songs

"We set sail from the sweet cove of Cork "

"The coal quay of Cork" as I remember it.

Not intended as a criticism by the way I know there are sites that list Cobh

It seems it was a life long dream of his to duet with her. Go figure. It looked like there wasn't any practice and that it was her first attempt at it. Very poor from her, he did ok.

It was hard to watch. The hard life has taken its toll.

It just doesn't seem like her type of song at all. I don't think I'll go looking for it on YouTube either.
