The amount of young women, and by young I mean in the 18 to 35 age bracket that have lip fillers or lip enhancement procedures done by above the shop fly by night cosmetic “experts” is well quite frankly appalling.
Teenagers and young women scarred with warped faces and rubber lips. No symmetry or precision to the work and no knowledge of the long term damage they are doing to their body.
Anyone got any thoughts on this? I know some places that allow you to share a vile of lip filler with a friend to save a few euro. |

Ridiculous and a little sad that people at the peak of youth and beauty feel the need to do this
But self-acceptance comes with age and maturity I suppose |

I totally understand the women who really have thin lips but its going too far all this faking xyz... Wish people just accept what their parents gave them. |

My mum always said 'if it were fashion to become more stupid, plenty would do it'.
Anyhow sad stuff imo, cosmetic corrections has become an attractive money machine, but legislation is limping behind so anyone can (try) cash in regardless of education and skills. The price is paid by the consumer, sometimes and unfortunately in different ways than expected.
The funny thing is those swollen lips look stupid imo (not to mention what the overall look portays - I'm holding back on this one) and I bet most men don't find them any more attractive than natural ones. |

I really don’t like the lip filler look but I also think it’s wrong to shame people for it.
It should be far more regulated to avoid cowboys. I have seen that a lot of dentist are training to provide it which should hopefully lead to regulation and protect people |

Its really sad to see a beautiful girl every day and then one day in the shop someone is saying HI and you have no idea who is this
Seriously? Do young people need the botox everywhere? I can understand plastic surgery used in case to fix the face after car crash or fire. But over make up faces, botox... It doesnt look good |

It's why I don't find the 'glamour' look any way attractive. All that falseness doesn't get past the subconscious mind.
The brain knows that something just isn't right.
That being said, it's a sad state of affairs that young girls feel they need to look that way because of celebrity worship culture. |

I wouldnt get lip fillers. Mine arent the best but im leaving them alone. A few years back i desperately wanted to get my boobs done. I hate mine but im honestly terrified of going under the knife lol.
But I am looking at getting botox done and I love my makeup. I do feel sad that so many younger girls contemplate all this but i suppose its what happens when you glamourise relative nobodies from reality tv who seem to be having something done every week. Definitely needs to be regulated though. People doing it in their houses with alleged "training" is pretty scary |

Putting aside the fact that women feel this is something they need to do, it is absolutely terrifying that non clinical practitioners are allowed to practice and administer these procedures.
At a basic level, the risk of hematomas, infection and abscesses is huge. Worse again tissue necrosis and permanent disfigurement.
Strict legislation needs to be implemented and significant penalties imposed to prevent and deter these people administering these procedures. |

Is being perceived more attractive not part of the game? |

I'm not a fan of the look, but then I'm no oil painting either.
I can empathise with anyone who's self-esteem is so low that they feel the need to undergo any one-off procedure, if the 'transformation' helps with their esteem issues. But it seems rare for anyone to stop at one procedure... And things like fillers and botox are not one-offs, they need to be repeated. Some can't seem to stop once they start having work done.
I tried false eyelashes for the first time as part of my Halloween costume... I have to admit that I liked how they looked, but I wouldn't want them every day |

Interesting thread..we are all familiar with various forms of manipilation to make ourselves appear more attractive, filters, endless pics at just the right angle..face pics during a 'sun' holiday several years ago..also fake boobs, tummy tucks, fat dissolving injections..then theres steroid abuse to pump up muscles implants to enhance body parts...and a lot of this on fab is highly rewarded through the fab a pic moniker...yet the enhancement of lips appears to be universally(almost) disliked. Im not a fan myself if im honest...but think there are loads of 'enhancements' on fab equally as galling..
.
.ps..the procedure isnt licenced at all...anyone can do it so they arent breaking any laws....unfortunately |

I hear some of the women even wear make up at actual meets.
I dont know why you would find someone trying to portry themselves in the best light or making changes to their body to improve their self image "galling" |

..ack didnt mean it so serious...chill...just suprised because i think peopl on here would be much more open minded...at the end of the day everyone is more or less doing their best to attract others and feel goid about themselves so not sure why the lip filler look is so universally disliked whilst other methods accepted.. |

Apologies if I read it wrong.
Still galling is a poor choice of wording |

I'm pretty sure that we only really notice the ones that are badly done.
I don't think it's a good idea to be judging them in any case.
It's their body, their choice and if they like it, why not? |

"interesting that the assumption is that women do it so that men find them attractive.........

Maybe not but as I think it's silly to imply that being more attractive to men isn't a major factor, even if a subconscious one.
The pressure on women to look a certain way is drilled into us from v v early childhood. And it's so much worse for young women now than it was even 10 years ago when I was a teen.
I have nothing but empathy and compassion for women who feel they have to turn to cosmetic procedures. And think that they deserve a lot more understanding and respect than some of the comments in this thread contain.
If you don't like it, don't get it done. But don't drag others for it. Your body, your rules. |

I had mine done last year, they looked far from ridiculous , I was more than happy with them plus I got so many compliments on how good they looked.... it was administered by a fully qualified nurse , if you do your homework and find a good practitioner you can get the look you want and not walk around with lips like a baboons arse |

Since posting this I’ve actually learnt it turns out I very much like someone’s lips who has lip fillers. I did even realise she had them.
Still stand by the fact nobody should be shamed for having them though |
