Should the wink be banned

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

I don't know about you,but it has done nothing for us.maybe fab should outlawed the wink and put it to its final resting place in the sky. This way people will actually have to compose a sentence in a message.

Now the first message should also have a minimum amount of words before it is allowed to be sent.not the usual how are you? Or wanna meet crap.

No to both suggestions. I don't mind the winks I often send one as well as look at who sends me one. And why should people have to write longer messages. Let them write what they want. I've often sent a first message and they aren't that easy to write. If it bothers you that people send you short ones block people from messaging and go look and message yourself or just ignore the short messages.

Run your fab profile the way you want but don't try and dictate how others run theirs is pretty much my motto on here anyhow.

Never sent a wink or a short how are ya message because l think both show a huge lack of respect to the person you're messaging ,if one is interested in meeting another at least put some effort into it to at least show the person you've made an effort

Winks dont bother me in the slightest. Nor do short generic emails. Both are either read or deleted or indeed replied to easily enough

So if you're out and about and someone says How are you do you just ignore them.

I think the wink should stay as its a way off checking in with someone discretely. You either reply or you don't. I sometime reply to wind faster as my mail box is chaotic at times.

I have also had meets come from winks, it's a great way to show interest and then follow through with a message. So a no to ban them in my opinion. If you don't like them don't use or look at them, simples

Winks don't bother me atal I've sent them myself. I dont understand the issue with hi how are messages or fancy a coffee. Isn't this the way we are in public with ppl or in a bar. Why can't it work here to. I dont expect anyone in a bar to prep a long 'stand out paragraph" message to get my attention there so I don't on fab. I'm either interested or not no matter how I'm approached. You would swear it was a job they were applying for and not a ride.. Ppl need to relax on the how to message jezz

Surely nothing easier than to ignore the wink facility if it doesn't appeal to you. What might not work for you, does for others. Simple as that. If you don't want mayo on your sandwich at the deli counter, are you going to look to get it banned althogether?

As for minimum words in messages, that's just ridiculous. Why don't you use short messages as a filter for people you don't want to meet if they don't make your word count.

I don't think it should be banned, it is fairly easy to ignore.

Regarding minimum length mails I do wish there was a way to filter them, ie: mail must be 20 words long.

Self confessed grammar Nazis here.

So not massive fans of the;

"Hey, how are you? Would you like to chat?" (hey how are you wanna chat)

Our lastest reply was;

"Let's eat kids.

Let's eat, kids.

Use Commas, they save lives. "

As for winks, hardly check and rarely send

In the real world ,a wink or a " how's things ?" are the finest , Absolutely ,cause it's a way more personal situation but maybe to be bombarded with winks and 3 letter messages every day here on fab is maybe a bit too much and not the same scenario as in the real world ...plus how many times would one read on a ladies profile " No ,how's things ..how are ya ..ya doing anything tonight etc etc messages...

I have no problem with winks or short opening messages. It’s just a way of getting the conversation started. I sometimes think people expect too much from people here. I wouldn’t be great at approaching people myself.

I think the wink is a lazy way to contact .some use it like it's going out of fashion. Sending them to whoever without even reading a person's profile in the hope that someone will respond. As for the short message here's an example

We got a wink.

We wink back.

Message then sent to us just says hi.

If that's all I get back well sorry.not worth the effort.

I like an auld wink every now and then, I dont bombard ladies/couples with messages or cock pics and I kinda see it as a polite invite to send a message, if I like the person I tend to follow up with a detailed message of who I am and what I'm looking for, if they reply, Bingo, if not, move swiftly alone

There some amount of BS coming from responses to this thread here,,

1.

No man on here will EVER complain about receiving a Wink, so by that reasoning can't complain about sending one,, so stop fishing for points, we all know that is B's.

2.

A wink is a great ,,Hey what's up tool,, if someone is online,,,as we all know a Fem will or could have 1000+ msg so chances are your msg ( no matter how long or short) ain't getting read, so a wink is a simple tool in that respect.

3.

Not everyone on here is on Par with St Peter or St Paul with Bible length standards msg,s,

And to be fair just like Bible standard profile info, they get a tad boring after paragraph 3, so get over yourselves,

Short and sweet is your only man,,

With all due Respect, as it is a Friday..
