More and more often I come across profiles stating "gym fit", looking the same.
Also I receive quite a few messages stating how my squats paid off.
What does that actually mean?
Personally I don't do gym or squats or any kind of excercise apart from my physically demanding work and do know quite a few people, who are all shapes and sizes and go to the gym regularly.
Now when someone is saying "gym fit, looking the same" does that low-key mean that they're looking for slim people only or can you be size 18 and as long as you're a regular visitor at the gym anything goes?
Find it kind of funny how someone uses "gym fit" as some kind of an attraction point or to show off how much of a healthy lifestyle they're living. Meh |

Suppose it's just a bit of both ,the person saying that they're into the gym and would prefer to meet a person with both similar attitude and shape plus it may also work as another " filter " cause the second someone sees " gym fit looking for same " on someone's profile they immediately make up their mind if they're gonna chat or approach that person ,so in a way it reduces...or increases.. the potential amount of contact between people without before they even think of sending a message once they'd see it ... |

GYM fit. Nice for the photos and maybe to look at.
But as someone that plays some sport. The GYM fit guys anoy the shit out of me. Ya great they are big and strong but five minutes in to the game and they are topped out of steam and generally now have become a reliability. |

A lady once confirmed that to me in conversation about the gym guys,in her experience with them, Absolutely no cardio, strong bodies etc but after a few mins totally out of breath/stamina...so not all is ever what it seems to be ... |

My body is average and I dont go to the gym.
To me a gym fit body is like a south african rugby player, for everyone else they are using exercise to overcome bad diet or a sedentary life to maintain an average body.
but my body does go up and down, I only take photos when its low body fat but it goes up and down by 10% which can be the difference between a nice sixpack and a dad bod, but I dont really care about that. |

Oh this is so interesting. I see that all the time too and find it really off putting. As a big girl, I'm well aware that there are lots and lots of "gym fit" men who love their women soft and squishy, but I still feel somehow that they'll look down on me intellectually maybe.
It also makes me roll my eyes and think... Does he want a fucking medal for lifting things up and putting them down again? If that's his greatest accomplishment, I think I'll pass.
Of course, this could just be my own insecurities over years of body shame in the past. Or maybe I'm being a bit of a snob and looking down at them. But whatever the reason, it's a no thanks from me. |

That's exactly how I see gym in general. Running in one spot, lifting things up to put them back down... one can achieve same results by being actually productive in real life. |

When I read gym fit I generally avoid them profile's as I am no where near it myself, but I think if someone's passion is fitness and they work hard on their body they have a right to want the person they meet to be similar. As other's have said going to the gym does not equate to fit. I see alot of men and women that go daily..some (not all) take more pic's for insta then they do anything else. |

"Gym fit isn't necessarily fit in my opinion. I don't gym but I keep active and have decent stamina. I'd be looking for similar in a fab friend. No six pack required. "
You can burn plenty of calories keeping active outside the gym depending what you’re into |

1st up let me say I ffffking hate the Gym ,
But most GGA teams send their squad pre season to the gym for strength coaching, in the Jan to early March months
Gym fit from what I've seen tends to be 5 min of work followed by 10min stuck to a mirror admiring 1s self or chatting or both,
Gym fit is that level of fitness required to wear a one size 2small t-shirt in the pub and show off 4 of your 6 pack,
For the ladies it's just enough squats and gym ball excerises to pull off a yoga pants in the coffee Que at Starbucks,
As I said I fffking hate the gym makes retirement a lot easier to cope with, |

That's what I mean! Lots of people go to the gym regularly and aren't size zero shredded muscle packs, why nobody calls them gym fit?

I like the gym and go a lot. I don't use the expression 'gym fit' in relation to myself or others; it's for people who use it to decide what it means and who it applies to. But I have had great times in bed (or elsewhere!) with women who never go near gyms. |

I think what people mean by gym fit are bodies that are sculpted a little bit....
But like all labels and terms ( see curvy and athletic) they can mean very different things to different people.

I go to the gym, but don't have a gym fit body
But I would say I've alot more Stamina than the guys and gals that pump weights and do no cardio
I go as it helps keep my sciatica at bay, I do abit of cardio and some strengthing
A six pack I will never have, my body is just designed to be a little curvy
I walk out of the gym looking like someone threw me under a shower
And it does give me an energy boost especially if I've had a particularly quiet sedendary day at work |

I don’t see the difference between someone stating they are gym fit on their profile or selecting athletic as a body type on a dating site.
We all have our own ideas on what we believe definitions to be and there’s obviously no right or wrong definition but just to be a bit controversial here I’m sure this would not be as much of a thing if the said profile stated "Tall, Short, BBW, looking the same" |

I'm a regular gym goer as well as swimming and playing regular tennis so I'm also aerobically fit. I don't think it defines me or makes me up my own ass in any way. I certainly don't spend time posing or staring in mirrors.
I do find it great for winding down from my stressful job and do it as much for my mental as physical health. I'm realtively easy going and normal and fully clothed you wouldn't know I'm a sports fenatic.
I'm at the gym to work hard and ogle the female talent. I adore the female form in all its guises be that curvy, toned or otherwise. |

Just because you go to the gym regularly doesn't mean that you're fit. A lot go there to become fit but aren't (yet). The key word is fit, healty and in good shape. I agree fit isn't necessarily bound to a certain shape ie slim but in the context of a profile I would assume the combo of gym fit means somewhere along the line of slim - athletic - average. Nothing wrong with having a preference. |

I think gym fit is some kind of tone in the body at minimum and the appearance of a healthy person. you dont have to be skinny to be gym fit but I think what people mean when they say it is that the person is toned or muscular in certain parts of their bodies. |

Fit is a description of your body's ability to perform certain activities - strength, cardiovascular capacity etc. It in no way dictates how your body looks.
If people saying they want a gym fit person mean they want a slim & toned or muscular person they should just say that.
Gym fit is a description of a behaviour, not a body type. Walk into literally any gym to see that. |

"More and more often I come across profiles stating "gym fit", looking the same.
Meh
Size 18 isnt "gym fit"
"Gym fit"- slim/toned/muscular
See responses above. A LOT of people who visit the gym regularly aren't slim/toned/muscular. Are they fit? Very much so.
How can I see a behaviour by literally walking into a gym? What's the underlining thought of that behaviour? I've been many times in the gym and I've no idea what you're referring to.
Exercising regularly and adamantly combined with a healthy diet will eventually have an impact on your body shape. |

I think the words GYM FIT have crept in to usage on dating sites, and suggest a lean toned appearance. I could use the words STONE WALL BUILDING FIT, or LOG CHOPPING FIT, or even FARMING FIT, or BLOCKLAYER FIT, but GYM FIT has less letters to type. People who use gym equipment a lot may have great muscle tone, but they're not necessarily very strong or have endurance and stamina. Look at the body shapes of people who do Iron Man, all shapes.. But very fit. |

Gym fit = defined muscle shape.
It's their preferred preference. A filter for the type of person they want to meet.
Realistically, there are many different types of routines/classes/exercise that can be done in a gym.
But in this scenario, gym fit = weights.
And let's be honest here, we all have a preference. |

" Gym fit is definitely a new thing on fab I think for some people it’s more like saying they’re just not interested in people that are overweight instead of saying that "
Might just be a subtle way of letting people know ok but thing is everyone have their own way of thinking on how they see themselves ,one person might think and say they're gym fit but in another person's eyes they're nothin' like gym fit... |
