It's all I hear people talking about. A bit of rain and wind and ud swear everything will go into shutdown. I might take back out the shorts and t shirt plus the lounger and lay out in it. Just be a bit different and all that.

I think people are frightening the elderly especially. They don't even know if it's actually going hit and if it will be that strong. We over exagerate on weather here compared to what other countries are hit down by.

Ireland doesn’t have the infrastructure to deal with weather that is outside the norm for Ireland. It may not seem as extreme as what other countries experience but it’s our lack of capability to deal with it that means that officials need to be cautious and advise the public accordingly.

No country has the infrastructure capable of withstanding hurricane force winds?

It's going to be downgraded to an extra tropical from a hurricane and they are fairly sure now that it is going to hit Ireland. The warning went out for storm Ophelia and 3 people (lord have mercy on them) died in that storm. It's going to be serious and the Atlantic is swelling up as it is. I'd put the shorts awaybtill next summer if I were you.

It's not hurricane force winds that will be hitting Ireland though.

It doesn’t need to be hurricane levels to do damage. The main risk is flooding and we’ve all seen the damage that can do in this country

I remember a few years ago, area I live got desperate flooding. Nobody panicked, just got on with it and back to normal in jig time. Now talking about unusual weather, I fucking hate snow. The mess it causes is unreal.

Yeah unless youre in a flood zone, or going to sea, its not going to be that bad.

The sea is probably going to be insane, the swells already are crazy, and there will be 30 foot waves heading from Ireland to Iceland/Greenland, so if you fall in the sea, you're pretty much fucked.

Dublin people always forget how many trees there are in Dublin too, if youre gonna get hurt in Dublin its gonna be from trees.

Yup, high tides alone can flood Galway city, the canals were almost overflowing at the weekend, so god help us if it's that high with high winds...

With all the technology these days ,the reports are usually 99.99% accurate ,and if they say it's what it is ,it usually is...there are a lot of things one can fuck with in life but Nature is NOT one of them ..when it bites...it bites ...and bites fucking hard ..

Obv some places in Ireland are going to be hit harder. My location says rain thursday morn and afternoon plus gusts of 65 to 70 km an hour. No rain friday morning or afternoon but stronger gusts.

I'll follow on from what I said. The whole country ain't gonna be battered by an unmerciful hurricane. Were gonna get rain and wind. Be sensible, that applies to everybody and all will be ok. The problem Is been sensible in bad weather doesn't apply to alot of people.

Apparently a lot more people watch news programmes, visit weather and news websites, once there's a hint of bad weather, or a storm getting a dedicated name.

So perhaps it's the Richard Murdoch types manipulating it all for their evil gains?
