I just read an update from a person I have on my hotlist. It stated how much they were hurt by a recent hate mail. While reading their update I felt genuinely sorry for them and I know we always rally around and say these people who send these mails are not worth discussing. But Christ almighty surely something can be done |

Unfortunately even if blocked and reported, these nasty people just can rejoin under a different profile. At end of day anyone that sends a nasty mail I'd just a nasty person and they are the one with the issue. Not nice been on the receiving end of it though. |

Well name calling is like water off a ducks back to me, and I think free speech is worth more than someones hurt feelings.
For me you can say the most hurtful things you like.
I draw the line at what I think of as "calls to act", ie "kill yourself", or "someone should murder you". Saying comments like that around me to people is a one way trip to a physical confrontation with me.
However I realize that not everyone can let such bad comments just roll off their back. For some people its the same as them being slapped about, and I think these people need to come up with solid ways to manage it. |

Its happened to me a tonne of times too. And its hard to take in the beginning but eventually you grow a thicker skin, although you shouldn't have to.
Free speech is very important, no doubt about that. But so is people getting what they deserve and I just hope that anyone who thinks free speech gives them the right to humiliate and dehumanize a person based on weight or anything else really, gets exactly what's coming to them. |

I hate cowards like this. I've been on the receiving end of a nasty mail from a couple I'd never even spoken to , They blocked me so I couldn't even respond to them. Nasty people out there . |

Personal abuse to people in my opinion is as bad as assault it should be against the law!I do believe in freedom of speech but with all freedoms that comes with responsibility and accountability, these people are causing harm to others directly and have no responsibility or accountability! Absolutely wrong to the core. |

It really says more about the person sending the message than the person who receives it.
Absolute tosspot, probably with a sense of entitlement. A guy tried it with me once 'oh, if you lost weight I'd fuck you'. I had the smart arse reply typed to send back but I thought what's the point? As people have said, those types are just looking for a reaction.
I hope this doesn't impact your mate too negatively. Tell her to have a look at this thread...most of us have had it! |

I got some disgusting messages similar to that lady. People that send messages like that seriously have issues. I was more annoyed than upset tbh. I would hate to think that they would send messages to more vulnerable people so I reported the profile 7 times and there was nothing done about it. |

Forums are slightly better at being moderated. In general though there does not seem to be much of an appetite at removing abusive folk or just trolls. That's only my experience right enough. |

This has happened to me on here in the past, iv always considered myself a strong woman and let things roll of me but the constand abuse was soul destroying and knocked my confidence . It didnt matter how many times i blocked them they would set up a new profile.. think its makes them feel better about themselves to put other people down |
