"We are planning a long weekend away and always fancied a trip to Ireland but not sure where is best and where we might enjoy a little fun whilst there  (Northern or Southern?)
Any suggestions  as we've never ventured across the Irish Sea   xx"

Depends really what you're after...
Dublin city isn't far from the airport
with Guinness Store House, live music in Temple Bar, etc or if you wanted to venture further out from the city there's Malahide or Powerscourt House & Gardens...
Keep an eye on any events on in the Vanilla Club

Either side of the border is good guys. Although with that whole shenanigans in the air, maybe going North will be the best option before the border goes back up!!!? 
In the North, you have the Titanic Museum in Belfast. The Giants Causeway and Dunluce Castle in Antrim (there are other castles I'm sure but wouldn't know them sorry) as well as this, there's Bushmills Whiskey Distillery around the same area. Bushmills is a village which that has a good spot for food, Bushmills Inn, if you'll be passing through it?
There's Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge which again is in County Antrim which is open certain times of the year do just check before you go, we made that mistake and was closed for repairs/refurbishment/upkeep when we went and were totally gutted we couldn't walk it! 
Around the coast of Antrim you can see Dolphins too and possibly whales?
Then it's not Northern Ireland as in the county but is the North of Ireland. Donegal you can see the Northern Lights. Just not sure if its only a certain time of the year.....?
The South you got plenty of stuff too but just think with Brexit, best off to go there and leave the South for another time, just in case. Doubtful the border will go back up, as I don't think people in either country wants that crap again!!! But still, ya never know  |

Best time of year to catch northern lights is October to Feb/March but conditions don’t always oblige. Have made several trips and miss them every time |
