"Fresh white bread no butter some red cheddar cheese and tayto cheese and onion. Accompanied by a pot of tea . Simple little pleasures "
Occasionally I'll pop in some chipsticks too |

"A culinary tradition you'll only find in Ireland and the UK, continental Europeans like myself find this slightly bewildering to say the least. "
If you think thats bewildering, people used to have sugar sandwiches.
But the logic behind why it is nice to people should be understandable to contiental people, Like pouring fat all over pasta to make it nicer, or a fatty french sauce all over carbs. Its the old traditional fat to car ratio that produces a dopamine release, like icecream etc.
A cup of tea, rich grass fed full fat milk with a tea spoon or two of sugar, will give a small dopamine hit, combined with white bread, a nice full fat butter, or cheese, and add on some carbs for another dopamine hit.
Combine them, and you have what science says should be quite an enjoyable, comforting little meal.
Although I never had crisp sambo. I am not a big fan of sambos at all. |
