Just rediscovered the music compact disk, sound is amazing in comparison to spotify or mp3. Just wanted to let you know and try it out yourself.
I'm going to dig out my LPs and reconnect turntable tomorrow. |

"Hard to beat Elvis on an LP
Well never was mad about the king and my LP collection doesn't entail any of his disks but sure why not. " Elvis loved swinging lol |

"Great to see I'm not the only one. "
You are not alone DH.
5 disc Marantz CD player here gets regular use.
Also have to say tunes in FLAC codec or MQA, as opposed to MP3, are much better.
Also DVD Audio or Blu Ray audio discs can be brilliant.
Pearl Jam Let's Play Two is brilliant in surround |

I’m surprised the sound is better, it’s all digital no?
I can understand vinyl being better, but cds?"
Streamed music from Amazon/Spotify/iTunes/etc is streamed according to your bandwidth limit.
So, depending on your broadband speeds, you may rarely hear the music at the 320kbps that a CD is recorded in.
So the top and bottom extremes of the music are suppressed/ ignored.
Hence listening to the CD/ vinyl is truer, vinyl being the ultimate
Personally though, if I can get FLAC or 5.1 surround sound mixes, I'm in heaven |

Not knocking the lovely Doghunters choice, but the best kick is live music, wether it’s a band in full flight, or an orchestra soaring above the clouds, you can’t beat the ‘real thing’

I've an old Elvis vinal that was pressed on pink vinal. Was a double limited Album. There was only a couple of hundred made world wide. Was passed down to me after my dad passed.
I've also got an original 45 of Bob Dylan's knocking on heavens door. |

I still have 3 boxes of CDs and dug through them a while back.
When you've spent so long listening to mp3s and then put on a CD it sounds like a re-mastered version.
I couldn't believe the difference in quality. |

Its like netflix and amzon and hd tv channels. They look good and the hd films look good on them, but bluray is way better.
4k bluray kicks the shit out of 4k netflix or youtube.
If youre investing in a 4k set, do yourself a favour get a 4k bluray player and buy your favourite films on bluray.
The quality will likely be the best you will ever see the film in. |

First CD I ever bought was Guns N Roses Appetite For Destruction back in 92. I still have it and it still plays.
My friend still has Appetite For Destruction on vinyl from 1987 with the original artwork which was banned soon after its release. |

Good call man.
Very true
Don't go buying a soundbar either., unless it's the Sennheiser Ambeo.
Surround speakers and a proper AVR to play everything through and wake the neighbourhood |

Cd is 44100hz at 16bit....that is the standard that audio is formatted to a cd..
Mp3 is a compressed file that is roughly a tenth of the size of a wav file and streaming music is compressed into different formatted codecs depending on which streaming site you use...yes the low end and high end and overall space of a mix is lost in these codecs... some are better than others..
Tidal isby far the best codec streaming app atm...then spotify and amazon. |

Nowadays audio mainly tends to be recorded digitally and most record anywhere between 48khz-192khz at 24-32 bit rate....very rarely is music/bands initially recorded onto 2"tape...consumer ways its just more accesable to have alot of tunes via these streaming sites....LPs are making a bit of a comeback in sales these last number of yrs....analogue is cool |

Get yourself a record player. I try and buy a new album every couple of weeks. There are some great quality 2nd hand lp's about and at a fraction if the price of brand new. Keep enjoying the music DH |
