That very much depends on what you do for a living, what your tastes are, and what your disposable income is likely to be.
The cost of living is high here, property in particular is expensive and in short supply in cities in particular. Also there are many things such as healthcare which are not free as in the UK (depending on your income). Do you research properly before making the move. |

I did. (Male half).
I moved across around 12 years ago and got a job fairly quickly as a spark, then the arse fell out of everything and retrained to a completely different career. In my field I won’t ever be short of options but not all are the same. I started in Donegal and then moved to Galway and settled. Would never dream of going back to Scotland now and indeed have only visited twice in the time I have been here.
Any specific questions ask away and I’ll try my best to answer. |

I did the same, moved over 12 years ago with an Irish lassie who wanted to return home to Dublin. We parted ways but I found it so easy to make friends over here I ended up staying and have no intention to move back as I love it here. Dublin has so much going on but is expensive, loads of fantastic places to live and with my career I always found it easy to get work. Strangely have always found it easier to hook up on fab back in Scotland! Good luck with move if you do it. |

Moved from Ireland to Paris on my youth and stayed 7 years, moved back to Irish countryside to rear happy children and succeeded but i have to say I do miss the cool chic city buzz of Paris, and don't get me wrong Ireland is one of the best places you could live in.. |

So am a chef by trade but also done a bit of work on the fishing trawlers. So would be either back to sea or kitchens. Ideally would be wanting out the way quiet area. Is it much more expensive to live in ireland than the uk? Thanks for all the replies. |
