Is Ireland gone sue mad?

Not that sue, the litigation one.
12 year old gets 85k for spilling tea on herself while carrying it under her arm in starbucks.
Judge should have just said to the girl "What did you learn? thats right dont carry hot liquids under your arm"
Then called the parents up "What did you learn? thats right dont let your kids carry 3 hot drinks for you cause you're too lazy to go up and get them yourself".

In another case a woman got 256k for crossing the road on a red light and a car hit her, it caused her such severe ptsd that she successfully navigated the Irish legal system and sued him.

do you think its getting too much? |

I have a civil court case starting soon, a d*unk man ran across the road in traffic into the side of my car breaking the side mirror... And guess what? Yep decides to pursue a personal injury claim but yes it's gone mad |

Yes, soo many cases similar to them that get awarded 1000's of EUR when it's obvious they are at fault, more judges should think twice before awarding them money as more cases will follow. Same when cars bumps to each other at very los speed with no damages but they also get awarded 1000's EUR because they claim whiplash. |

It's a cash cow for the legal system: Think about it: where are they likely to get paid from?? The insurance companies and business. If claims weren't successful the claimants legal team would not get paid because most claimants couldn't afford the fees. |

People want the easy money...this country is rife with people that will sue for the least thing ...that's why so many people are now putting the dash cams in their cars ...there was a lady involved in an incident with a young fella on a bicycle and his friend ,the young fella wheeled his bike back into her car and made out she hit hit from behind ,his friend was screaming and wanted to call the guards and the ambulance..she just simply said to the boys ..." Go on and ring them ..l've got dash cam "..the young fella hopped up and the two of them scattered...it's unreal what people do to get money from innocent people.. so wrong..but l also do realize that there are the quite legitimate cases for it to...it's just a case of separating the wheat from the chaff .... |

Seperating the chaff should be part of a lawers buisness filter but unforunately u take the claims buisness out of a lawers office and theres barely a bit of convency work left that doesnt pay the bills
The law soicity need to step up and start regulating their members if they are continualy bring spurious false claims to court they need to sanction them
That and judges exercising some common semce

While i agree there are cases with dibious claims. Please dont forget tbe genuine people who have being hurt etc.we need a robust system in place to protect people also. |

"It is crazy, but since Fg are being found out for doing same it will more than likely change a bit.also if you deserve it you should get good compo. 85 k for spilled tea is a bit much"
Nothing will change, the swing gate has been neatly wished under the carpet. Irish politics at its best.
Meanwhile small and medium business struggle to cope with public liability insurance hikes or even have to close down. |

While the majority of Irish people will acknowledge their own stupidity at doing something, call themselves a fucking eejit and move on, I think most towns and villages have that certain family who makes a 'living' from spurious claims. It's nothing new. |

The Judges with all their so called experience are seriously lacking in common sense. we have a claim culture in this country which gets rewarded by jidges up and down the country. How do we ever expect our insurance premiums to reduce when the judges assist in large payouts for instances where they should be ran out of court and wasting time.
The same judges preside over soft sentences for more serious crimes then. Its gotta change from the top down but its a ridiculous system thats in place. |
