I see lots of women/couples put the man age limit there looking for at 18, is this a through reflection on what age they are looking for, I’m 21 and I message them and they say too young!

Simple answer to that one. Actually 2 logical answers.

1. They made a mistake while ticking boxes.

2. They are looking for men and women. While it's okay if a young woman is 18 and up. They may not be into younger guys. Clues are usually in people's profiles. It helps to read them carefully before messaging

I'd say they didn't bother to change the default setting when setting up their profile. But actually have no interest to meet a 18year old.

There's filters if someone looks for a very specific age.

I don't think it ruins it. I have at 18 because I'm willing to make exceptions. But realistically i dunno if I would go for a younger guy

Probably for the same reason like the messers spoil it for the 'good' ones. Way easier to blame someone else for not succeeding, than changing attitude or approach.
