Dunno about you all but I'm glad to see the support staff strike. The Ambulance crew did many strikes and honestly sitting on your hole in Costa or Tesco then turning up 2 hours late to an emergency shame on you. The support staff work very hard. And treat people with respect.

I'm supporting all hospital staff...the inability of HSE and Dept of Health to manage, pay decent wages & improve services, is a shocking indictment on all those earning 100,000 plus per year.

kip of a fucking country, vhi sticking prices up, the hse offers less and less so if you can afford private you 100% have to get it, and it keeps going up and up.

I have sympathy for nurses, but they got free education etc then fly off to america and australia. Endless pay rises just isnt gonna work, the tax payer deserves better.

The government needs to work out a way to reduce their cost of living instead of pay rises. For example they could let nurses claim vrt back on cars, they could let them not pay the property tax, they could let them not pay duty, they could set up a place inside each hospital for child care for the workers. They could give renters a tax break for every nurse they take on allowing them to offer nurses cheaper rent.

These are just examples, which should be rolled out to essential workers and low earners in my opinion.

Some hope of anything like that happening.

It's take, take, take with the government.

Oh except when they feel the need to throw money at things that aren't a priority.

Apparently they're giving €12 euro to develop Waterford Airport, where there hasn't been a flight out of in 3 years.

But at the same time we can't get a full time cardiac unit in the South East.

You'll be able to fly to England regularly again, but just make sure you don't have a heart attack at the weekend.

Ridiculous.

It's a mentality of take what we can while we can because one day the opportunity will be gone.

And we let them do it.

When England crash out .and varadkar WILL bottle it

We used to have a saying in this country: Tiocfaidh ár lá.

Now we say: Ah sure what can ya do?

We're getting everything we deserve.

I agree with most of your comment but there is not a single person in ireland that has ever got "free education"! Never has and never will be free. Sending kids to school costs a small fortune. You can triple that small fortune when it gets to 3rd level education.

I got a degree and it didn't cost me a cent.

I was given grants and funding to get books and other items that were necessary for the course along with my Back To Education Allowance.

But isn't that what the government wants you all to do. Go privately. Slowly forcing everyone to private health care. They can slowly privatise the national system and take it off their hands but still collect from you as before.

Yeah but I wasn't paying for it.

It was free for me.

I received something for nothing, ie. it was free.

"Lucky you but when parents work their kids are entitled to nothing towards education and when it’s 3rd level they get no a cent in grants no free education for those with working parents "

I was a mature student who had been working and paying tax for 11 years and lost my job during the recession in 2009. I decided not to sit around feeling sorry for myself so I went to college to at least be doing something constructive. There were very little employment opportunities in Waterford at that time.

Not my fault I qualified for free 3rd level education.

My point was a response to another post who said no one has ever gotten free education in Ireland.
