MsC is raging here and all the time when she smells the impure heavy CO2 in the air almost everywhere in the small towns or other wealthy areas in Dublin and Counties, due to burning firelogs and briquettes in plane summer or anything around 12 to 16 degrees or whatever. Then these feckers come on the media and government incentives telling about making Ireland a greener and cleaner energy country, if that makes any sense? (She is from a country that gets -15 on the winter and they don't use the stocked logs unless an emergency happens).
Me too I do hate seeing/smelling it, but what can I do? Wear masks like the Chinese? I know we all talk about jobs, but we don't ride horses anymore or use candles to light up most houses... Just saying... |

That wouldn't be hard if all these companies and government did more and talked less 
There are many ways of making cleaner energy (less harmful then the old ones).
Thorium Nuclear power.
Waves.
Organic waste(already used).
Solar(all you need is photos, even on rainy cloudy days solar panel absorb photons).
I know wind turbines seems stupid because of its size... But...
There are ways... We just direct money on the wrong places, I guess why many graduates get pissed off and leave the country for a few years, as many say to me they were under appreciated and miss treated while getting their degrees... I am not even trying to understand that... But many startups comes from ambitious grads and experienced native engineer / entrepreneurs. Unless ye want to privatisation if the energy supply...

I work in the power industry and have a fair idea of what's needed to provide power for half a million electric vehicles by 2030, they did say its ambitious to be fair, if they achieve it by 2130 I'd be supprised |

China has already said electric battery cars are a dead end, they will never be able to put a charging station in everyones home.
India wont be able to either.
LA has to do rolling blackouts to handle air conditioners.
UK struggles with world cups when everyone turns on the kettle at same time.
It does not matter how much money is thrown at it, without superconducting wires the grid cant handle electric cars. Hydrogen cars are a real possibility.
Also....
What country does she come from that is -15? is it a country that burns russian gas? The ones that freeze their balls off when russia reduces the gas?
Many graduates leave Ireland because they dont realise how good it is here until they travel, and thats why more people from Europe are coming into Dublin than leaving Dublin to leave in Europe, cause basically we are better than where they come from. |

True and very warming at welcoming   she only came because of me. Her country is on the top 10 in Europe and world. Only my stubborn persona is stick to this beautiful rainbow land |

a lot of truth there, we're centuries away from a green planet depressing as it may seem it will be to late, banning diesel vehicles by 2030 the same ones they encouraged us to by a few years ago, how many families do you see driving around in older diesel cars? Is it because they want to? No its because the can't afford a new diesel car let alone a decent family size electric car that dosnt even exist! Ambitious is an understatement.. |

It's just another great idea by our very learned politicians .ideas that never can work .if the greens hadn't got 8%of the vote fine Gael would never have come out with these daft unworkable proposals ...do you know in Saudi Arabia they are driving around in big fuel guzzling 4×4s and no unleaded fuel in sight .4 million call me I south America at any given time producing more gas than we are .we are just a small blip in the world .but as usual paddy had to pay .thousands of students on the streets demonstrating...maybe they should be supporting the homeless and get more houses built
As there's going to be none for them with these clowns running the show ...and don't be surprised if eu throws us under the bus once again on the backstop as they did with the bankers. |

Now 90% recyclable, the same with solar panels... We are getting better. But all these predictions for Ireland renewable energy aren't calculated at all, they just copy cat the French and others... The French was saying by 2030 and no extent diesel from 2045 they will sell only EVs and then UK said from 2035 EVs only... So which the greens said: " the French or the UK, pick a side pal, no time for calculating"  |

Oh it is ofcourse and equally as environmentally friendly to produce as hydrogen, and every bit as hazardous to store...you see you can produce hydrogen through electrolysis separating hydrogen from water by using electricity, ie using fossil fuels,and if we find a greener way of producing electricity in the next hundred years then it might work, but it will still remain hazardous..i know only too well the dangers of hydrogen as I work with it on a daily basis.. |

Oh it is ofcourse and equally as environmentally friendly to produce as hydrogen, and every bit as hazardous to store...you see you can produce hydrogen through electrolysis separating hydrogen from water by using electricity, ie using fossil fuels,and if we find a greener way of producing electricity in the next hundred years then it might work, but it will still remain hazardous..i know only too well the dangers of hydrogen as I work with it on a daily basis.. "
We also work with hydrogen in the gas form, it is so dangerous that we need sensors to detect if there is anything molecules in the air, because any little sparkle or heat can ignite it and make a chain reaction worse than natural gas, hydrogen is very sensitive to ignition... It can sure mix with oxygen, but better not having spread in the air for more than 1/5 of a cubic metres and ignite it... I still didn't really research about how hydrogen cells really work but there are some cool technologies in terms of super capacitors coming up, such as polymer solid-state battery and solid state batteries in general... But they need a bit of heat to be efficient I am pretty sure that in the next 10 years we will have a new concept to apply in the long run... |

There's loads of potential for new technologies, but my point is until they actually exist the government should be realistic about ambitious future projections and stop using it as a reason to bleed the struggling tax payer...

re think is needed and a quick answer to getting rid of cancer causing diesel cars for the short term would need the EU to remove its 36ppl tariff from petrol. But no chance of that they are happy with our children getting cancer from Diesel soot in the air we breath as long as they get their money. |

You mis the point the national grid still has to supply the power to charge batterys even the Capacitor types and if we all had electric cars the grid would have black outs. As for petrol being expensive the EU hold the answer to that as they take 36PPL of a tariff on petrol and we then pay the lions share of VAT ontop, all to the EU. Petrol has less harmfull emisions than diesel but the EU prefer to take our money and let our peoples die from Cancer caused by diesel engines in our cities and towns. |

Everybody in the country isn’t going to have an electric car in the next few months so having a grid that can’t handle to extra isn’t so much an issue. It all about starting and building for the future.
We can’t wait until oil and gas runs out and then say right we need new options. The sooner these alternative energies are developed to sooner we we’ll have viable solutions.
Plus how much money do the people of Ireland pay to Arab and Russian and who ever else oil companies to import or fuels when we can supply our own, keeping the money in this country for further investment into renewables. |

Look guys it's all about money .curious to know does anyone from here know actually how much money the exchequer gets from the ordinary motorists .through taxez on petrol and diesel every year ...and how will they replace that money .personally I think it is our in the sky . |

I was about to add it on my lines yesterday. Our investment in fuel supply would be more centralised to Ireland and we would export much less our funds out to buy the extra need refined byproduct. Yes they grid will need a new dedicated supply for only EVs and electrical storage units/plants, so it will happen, sooner or later, as most cars will be driven by electrical motors, which have much fewer moving parts to power the sardines boxes around to get us from a to be.
The problem is, how will the energy grid be updated to supply the next generation whole will still be in Ireland in 2040/35? As they say that there will be a considerable population increase... I think that they should sort out the ones in need first and educate/upgrade their CVs to make Ireland with less crimes and violence and system cheaters. So that they can earn better wages, have better life quality and help the country to have much less sustained poverty, because fair a small country we have waaayy too many "poor" or homeless individuals... But let's not change the topic, this is about energy usage... Sorry if I opened the tin of warms... |

And some sold/corporate media giving stupid news supporting the Boeing 737 Max after the CEO was brave enough to say sorry for the crafts that fell due to software error and modified jet-turbine increase of size only to compete with Airbus... First of all these air crafts should be banned and destroyed/recycled... I may open another forum about the 737 Max...
But yeahs greed gives no fck about lives... They risk without much testing and validation at times...
I hope for the best for the less dirty energies... |
