Has to be Packie Bonner's penalty save against Romania for me.
One moment I do love though is the joy on Emmanuelle Petite's face when he scored for France in the 1998 final to ensure that they beat Brazil and became champions.
He won the double with Arsenal just a few weeks before. He must have been on top of the world. |

And the week after the world cup final Petit got married. They went to Vegas on honeymoon and first night there they decided to go to the poker tables after dinner. But while he was waiting for wife to come out of the loo he put a coin into a slot machine and won 17,000 dollars with his first token. He had all the luck that year!
The first world cup I remember was Italy and France final, and that Zidane headbutt. Didn't watch much else but the final.

I could be mistaken but I have a memory of USA '94 when the stretcher would come onto the field they played the Jaws music.
I'm sure it happened at least once because I remember laughing about it with my friends. |

....still...the ' 82 team were just swashbuckling footballers..it was just breathtaking to watch them ...they were easily the best Brazilian team after the ' 70 team ... |

"Best skill shown was Maradona's goal against England . . Not the Hand of God one!
He went around 5 or 6 without any problem to score. Pure magic."
Those first three touches to get away from the two England players were sublime. |

Yes the pitch may well have been terrible but it was the same for both teams, pitch has nothing to do with the result. |

....was complimenting Maradonna even more for doing what he did on a terrible bumpy pitch .my comment was nothing to do with the result ..but while the condition of the pitch is in the mix now... Imho .conditions of pitchs have of course a big say on which way results go...a light team will always struggle against a bigger physical on a wet heavy pitch whereas the opposite is the case if the pitch was dry ,hard and fast ...now l fully realise ..and respect that the wet heavy field was never gonna be the case in Mexico ' but imho..the pitch can ..and does play a huge part in the result of a game |
