Any couples out there where it abundantly clear that one half of the duo is significantly and universally considered far more attractive than their mate?

How does this affect the swing dynamic when it comes to finding play partners

Looks aren’t everything...I’d guess you see a plainer man with a more attractive woman far more often than the reverse. (Speaking as a woman whom you’d never look twice at, I can attest that looks aren’t the be all, end all.)

I think as a lady gets older her reasons for being with a guy changes from when she was younger ,as in she looks for other or different qualities in a guy and ends up with a guy that 10 -15 yrs earlier she wouldn't even look twice at so a lot of the time you do see plainer guys with more attractive ladies.

So I have been wasting my time edging myself over and over so I can last longer in sex, all I needed to do was learn how to make coffee?

I fully agree, "looks" just open the door but don't keep you "inside".

Personality, imagination, higiene are just a few that must come with the looks, otherwise it isn't worth, at least in my book.

Some kinky or SM interests adds some spice to the whole mix .

This is Ireland, not the land of satisfied women having every box ticked.

They settle and they compromise. The charming handsome guy with a honda civic who got them knocked up when they were 16 just wont cut it when they are an attractive 25 year old.

The handsome 5'11 guy just wont cut it when they are 6'1 in heels.

The guy working on checkouts in tesco just wont cut it when they need to save 70k for a deposit on a house.

The missmatch happens not because they tick every single box, but they tick the more practical boxes that allow the girl to have the type of life they want.

I'd say there is a small proportion of men and women who would sell their soul to the devil for material gain, but thankfully women have more options these days, and some even manage to acquire the lifestyle they want on the back of their own efforts, instead of on their backs...Imagine

What the F##k ever happened to two people meeting one another and falling in love and making a life with each other that doesn’t include ticking boxes or the size of a bank balance

Any relationship that’s based on ticking boxes and the material things in life is doomed. Life has a habit of throwing curve balls and if the character of the people involved is based on bank balances and not backbone then the solicitor won’t be shy about reducing the bank balance

To be fair you both look gorgeous x

As to punching above weight, that is surely just perception since a relationship is the sum total of the parts! The initial looks that we all see from the outside are only one piece of the puzzle, the hopes, the dreams, the ambitions, the outlooks, the humour, the meeting of minds are surely the real glue, the real fire between a man and a woman? As to whether it’s hotter men or hotter women I think they come in equal measure!

You would have to be a very shallow individual or maybe just one with no life experience to believe that any long-term relationship is about only one thing.

When you tend to see "hot" women with a "less hot" guy, why is the assumption that she might be after things like his money? The default position for me is that this shows that guys are more shallow and might not give "less hot" girls a chance, especially when they are younger and tend to care a lot more about what their mates might think!

It's a whole package for us. I do think the most successful relationships are when the people in them think/feel approximately the same about each other in terms of the entire package.

I'd think me and the Mrs are about equally attractive, but we get hundreds of messages on here saying how hot she is, and none saying how hot I am... So I'm sticking to my opinion that this is cos men care more about that kind of stuff!!

Depressing thread. Looks will fade. Long term relationships need a way deeper connection than something skin deep. It might be difficult for the less mature folks from the tinder generation to understand, but a pretty partner on your arm does not a happy relationship make.

Agree totally most women do work who have kids and believe it or not actually earn a heck of a lot more than their other halves ..... Bank balance nothing to do with it! They just haven’t a poker up their arses and know that looks are not priority for long term partner.....

Well I just checked there and according to the Indo, it’s overwork and not adultery that’s the main reason for divorces in Ireland. Financial reasons make sense too though.
